I bought a few things this week on CL.i thought I was getting a decent deal. But I'm still fairly new to all of this and want to se if anyone with more knowledge can tell me how I did.

1. Pair of FXi 30 dipole/bipoles, great shape, work great, original owner, $60

2. Pair of RTi 8s ( what I really wanted)
Onkyo TX-SR605 (didn't need, wouldn't separate)
PSW202 sub (also didn't need, wouldn't separate)
Above for $275, all looks and works great.

I figured I can either use the avr & sub upstairs........ or sell the avr and sub, and only pay 150ish for the RTi 8s.
Man cave:
120" screen
Epson 8350 projector
4 Tap Kegerator

Audio:
AVR: Onkyo 818
Sub: SVS 25-31 PCi
Fronts: RTi 8s
Center: CSi5
Surrounds: FXi 30s
Rears: Monitor 50s

Well you can get about 100 for the 605 on fleabay (you will have a hard time selling the sub honestly) so you will pay 175 for RTi8s and a little sub. Certainly not bad, especially considering cost of shipping if you tried to buy them on ebay. You didn't rob anyone, but if you like them then that is a very solid deal.

Put the avr and sub upstairs with some Klipsch quintet speakers that are extras now. Just two fronts and a center... It's sounds 100% better than the Visio soundbar and sub combo we've been running.

Now to convince my wife to keep it........

You did well, and that Onkyo is not a bad unit, the first to decode HD soundtracks via HDMI. So a nice back up AVR.

And Rti-8s and a sub for less than $200 (a lot less)....forget about it! Crack open a cold one and enjoy!

I almost bought a Polk RM7500 system (5.1 with a PSW650 subwoofer) and an Onkyo receiver for $250... I passed when the seller refused to let me listen to it to make sure than everything was fine... He would only sell meeting at somewhere other than his home and that everything was sold "as is"...

Jon is right. NEVER pay for any CL item before "listening". That's always been my policy and everyone I've dealt with has been great about it. Maybe it's just because we're up here in no man's land? Above the "live free or die" guys! What can we say, our motto is not as formidable but then again, we also pay some "taxes", lol Well, you N.H. boys are OK, but really, a lot of you are escapees from Mass. running away from...well you know!
