Going wide or going high?

Hello Polk users!

I recently move to an appointment and I have some questions regarding my Polk speakers placement (tsi500, 200,100 and center Cs20). My receiver is an onkyo txnr709 and have 7.1. My question is, do I go to the front wall wide or high? I know I suppose to don't put speakers on the back because my Soffe is against the wall. Thank you in advance and I am a big Polk fan!

I hope I was clear enough about my question and my layout.

The #2 and 3 are the amount of people that can be fit on the sofa.

Room dimensions would help. Heights at least 2 feet outside mains, and as close to ceiling as possible. Wides ideally 165 degrees at sweet spot

Wouldnt it be best to use the room long ways? As in tv either in front of window or have it divide the room at the other end where the kitchen is? I think ur too close to the speakers and tv where everything is now.

Surround usually to each side of the listening area about 2 feet above ear level pointing at each other. If the tv was at either end putting up surrounds wouodnt be that hard.

Place your fronts about a foot wider than the sofas, and toe them in, so they point toward the center seating position. Go with front highs, you'll already have a pretty wide soundstage. Place the heights about 3 feet outside the mains, and as close to the ceiling as possible.
