Need input as a new forum member on what sda speaker to purchase. The two models I have available at a reasonable distance are the srs 2.3tl with no mods but in excellent shape with original packaging, but missing IC cable and a very nice pair of sda-sra
that have been modded with rdo-194 upgrade, basket damping, and mortite sealing on all drivers. the sda-srs comes with a original owners manual and IC cable and have a documented 2 owner history. They also will come with all original sl- 2000 tweets. The 2.3tl's have a more questionable history of owners. They will occupy a large basement entertaining area around 1000 sq ft and will be driven with a 200 watt sansui amp/pre combo rated at 4 Ohm's.

Prices on each? Pics? Tough to say without these. The 2.3TL are the last generation of SDA's and as such have the best design technology. Also, many here consider them the best sounding SDA, even better than the 1.2TL. I have no experience with the latter so I can't weigh in on that.

Missing the interconnect cable is not a big deal as they're easy to make.

Are you planning to do mods?

the 2.3tl's would be 400 to $600 less. Both are cosmetically in very good shape.

If the price isn't too high, I would go with the 2.3TL's, hands down (especially if they are $400-$600 less). If there are any problems with them from previous owners, we can help you with that here.

Both are great speakers, you WILL enjoy either one.

Normally I may agree with Chandler on the price issue. However, the SRS have the upgraded tweets which amounts to $400, come with SL 2000's which can be sold for at least $100, have some other minor mods at minimum. I say it's still a hard call to make without pics. I would consider driving distance and condition. Knowing the history means a lot too. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

can anyone chime in on the IC cable. I read some where that I could just connect the round pin on the 2.3tl and the blade served no direct function. Also would the bass be somewhat similar? I understand the older sda-srs seem to have more in the bass kick.

Correct on the IC cable. Can't comment on the bass. Much of the sound and imaging quality of any SDA speaker depends on set up and room size.
