Subwoofer - Upgrade PSW505

Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade my PSW505 to an SVS PB-1000 or SB-2000.
The SB-2000 is cheaper and physically smaller. I have limited floor space. The cylinder style won't work for me either.
I'm wondering if the SB-2000 would be good for movie use. I probably use the sub for 80% movies.
I can probably squeeze in the PB-1000, but I don't know if the SB-2000 is the better option there.
What do you think?
Edit: I forgot the room size. 20x10x10. one of the 20' walls is open into my dining room. There are two windows in the room, one on each 10' wall. Ceilings start at 8' and are vaulted into 10' in the middle.

well the ported one will definitely punch louder and hard and dig deeper than the sealed one, so I would say that if you can fit it that's the better option. But either one should be a noticeable improvement over what you currently have.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

That's where I'm confused. The SB-2000 vs the PB-1000. Which would be louder/harder/deeper in this comparison?
The PB-2000 vs the SB-2000, obviously the PB wins! -
The SB 2000 will work great for HT, better than the PSW 505. The SB 1000 is a good sub, but between the 2, the SB 2000 is a better choice for any application.

Okay sorry I was comparing the wrong subs. Yes the SB 2000 looks awesome, but I personally would not want to pay 200 extra for space constraints. However, if you are then I think you will be very pleased with the sub. Call SVS and give them your details and budget and they'll recommend the best option. Their CS is top notch, I guarantee they won't try to oversell you.

Looks like the PB-1000 would fit.
Better choice than the SB-2000? -

IMO with a sub you need to think outside the box (lol) and figure out a way to make the best model fit. Take my advise from post #6 and call them. -

I chatted with them yesterday. They said the pb-1000 would be good, but they first recommended the cylinder style. Which doesn't work for me.
I wanted real world advise though. I know they're not up selling me but thought some user opinions would be good. -
How does the cylinder style not work for you? Is it that you just dont like it?

My thoughts as well. Very efficient use of floor space (see my sig, real world advise right there. It's amazing). -

It is too tall. It is about the size of my tower speaker.
I want to hide it.... -

Both are available at SVS outlet right now. Nothing wrong with the PB 1000. Solid sub, relatively inexpensive, and you'll probably be satisfied with it. Going from the PSW 505 to the 1000, you'll probably fall in lust if not love with it.
The SB 2000 will give you a smaller foot print, but cost more. You'll have more head room over the 1000, and it will work better with music, even though that is a secondary consideration.
If you wish to be blindfolded and do an HT shoot out, best guess is will be so close to even as to not make much of a difference. Probably get a little more mid-bass punch out of the 2000, but sub 30 Hz will be pretty even. -

Considering the price difference, the PB-1000 looks like a good choice.

YUP!
I'm going to keep a looking for the PB-1000. I am also going to see if I can audition these. The closest audio store is like 30 min away. -
I just went through all this
I was really dead set on the SB 2000 because I do music more than movies, thought the SB 2000 would be more suited and add some slam for the movies. After reading reviews and talking to SVS the PB 1000 got thrown into the mix because of my room size.
Anyhoo I ended up with the PB 2000 (don't ask why, cuz I don't know). Man-o-Man this thing will kick you in the crotch....but every time I look at it (thing is large and wife complains...) I wonder if I would have been better off with the smaller PB 1000 or SB 2000.
IMO these reviews would be accurate on the PB 1000 for your use.

Thanks for these links. The PB-1000 does look like a good sub for me, especially coming from the PSW505.
SVS seems to have a lot of these on their outlet. -
Unfortunately I cannot find a dealer in my area to audition the subs...

I've only seen positive remarks. I'm just waiting on SVS customer service right now. Then I might just end up ordering this today.
You can't lose with the 45 day trial... -

Not to mention a 45 day trial period and FREE return shipping if you don't like it... -

Well I know that they sell through Vanns, Onecall, Amazon, etc. now, and the first two still have a couple B&M stores, so a demo might be possible depending on location. But the 45 day trial and free return seems to render the issue irrelevant...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Yep, one of subs is going back, overkill, when both dig down they rip the floor up and throw it in your lap.Samsung PN64F8500, Parasound 2100 pre amp, Parasound 2250 v.2 amp, Parasound Zdac, OPPO 103D, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, Dual SVS PB 2000 -
Those are large! Are they the PB-2000?

Yes, PB 2000 the 1000 are smaller. To be honest the PB 1000 would have worked in my room because I only needed bass support below 40 HZ for movies.Samsung PN64F8500, Parasound 2100 pre amp, Parasound 2250 v.2 amp, Parasound Zdac, OPPO 103D, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, Dual SVS PB 2000
