At $332,000 of $800,000 goal....and I think that $332,000 has all or mostly been pledged today.
The Neil Young artist signature series has been selling quickly.

Up to almost $750,000.
Gonna reach the Kickstart goal in one day.
Seems like this slow moving project is finally starting to get somewhere.

if this takes off successfully enough though Apple may finally see there is a market for lossless music and start offering it on Itunes. If that happens, Pono probably won't have much of a product life, b/c of the saturation of apple in the market. It's a great idea though and hopefully it will work like it should.Main 2ch -

As much as I like the idea of it, I just don't see this taking off. The player isn't really a pocket friendly shape and the service is going to be limited and people aren't going to buy the sale content again in yet another version. There may be enough of a niche market for this to survive but I'll be shocked if we're still talking about this device in a couple years.
My guess is one of two things happens: this will have a few early adopters but never really take off or people will flock to it and Apple will just do lossless audio thru iTunes and effectively kill the device that way. -
Ok so after watching the video all I can say is that I really hope I'm wrong. It's hard to watch that video and NOT get excited about it, I'm jumping in and hope it really takes off...

Yes, turns out Emmylou is an attractive spokesperson. I last saw her @ The Kansas State Fair ~ 1988 (which is the only performer that's EVER attracted me to the KSF grandstand). Neil ~1971 in OKC. Opening act was The Stone Poneys, with some gal named Linda Ronstadt.

I think this is starting off with some good traction, but if/once it loses momentum, I think it will have a very hard time surviving.
It is an artist supported campaign, which is a good thing right now, especially with some big names, but if it struggles, I don't think many artists are going to tie too much of themselves up in it.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -
The boat got missed in this being a music only device...........PonoPhone would be awesome with full cellular network support. As is, I would be surprised if it doesn't get eaten by Apple pretty quickly.

wow do I understand this kickstarter is at a pledge level of 5.9 million $ of only 800K needed... never did buy a ipod, might just have to throw 300 bucks at this player with all the money I saved not updating apple products every year
