Good thread on audiocircle describing the performance of this DAC, especially comments on pages 2 &3: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=56975.0 Most folks say it's completely non-fatiguing with a sweet analog sound and great PRaT (pace, rhythm and timing). Built with high quality parts including black gate caps on a slab of maple. Peter feels like this improves the sound. I've used it for 5 years like this without a case ( I like the way it looks!). It puts out little to no heat so it installing it in a case would not present any problems should you want to do that.
Purchased Jan 2009; SP/DIF NOS Dac (no usb), condition 8/10 (broken flange tip on one of the inductor spools I've reglued - has not affected performance); paid Peter to assemble at a cost of $410 + shipping from Canada.
Offering at $225 + shipping from 27278. This is a giant killer IME and according to the user reviews at the link above. It has a great analog sound, plenty of detail, renders human voices with warmth and accuracy, very good bass response, outstanding imaging. Only selling because I got an Oppo 105 for Christmas and can't keep both. Includes generic PC.
Also, digital DIY IC available built with Eichmann Silver Bullet RCA plugs with aluminum barrels ($148 + $24), Neotech NEVD 2001 cable with high purity silver conductor ($24 ft) and cardas silver solder, $200 of materials - offered at $125.
If you buy both there is a special package price of $300. Payment by personal check or postal money order.
