If Infinity?? Which one?/
Hello,
As I still try and move away from Polk SDA2bs I am looking at going the Infintiy path. I had RSIIIs and thought they were good but a touch to dry and thin for me but liked them enough to keep looking at Infinity. I am looking at the following. The asking prices are $400 to $550 with the kappa 7.1 being even more Price is huge (may have to borrow to pull this off) In order of most expensive to least. Note the Vandersteen in there
Kappa 7.1 39-35K FR
CS 3009 32-35K FR
Reference 6 35-35K FR
Vandersteen 2CI 29-25K FR
Kappa 6.1 45-35KFR
I have had Vandersteen 2CEs and think about them alot but am not sure about going that route again as I find them somewhat dark but i threw it in anyway.
The CS 3009 seems like a no brainer and the Reference 6 as well The 7.1 may be too much for not a real improvement and the 6.1 seems like less for the same $$. My issue with the CS 3009 is I have heard many like it but other complain about build quality are being cheap compared to the equal kappa 8.1 or 9.1. It is important to note we are not talking about paying $2600 for them like they were new. Thoughts on these. Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the Kappa series after the original RS Kappas. The EMIT-k handily beats the Emit-R any day. I wouldn't bother with the crescendo series either. Anything with a Emit K or later Emit, i.e. HE-EMIT are the more desirable speakers and also speakers with the original EMIT, i.e. RS-I, RS-II. Not sure where you're located but Infinity speakers come up quite a bit in Cali. But 400-550 is pricy for a Kappa 7.1 in my book. For a little more, you can buy Kappa 8's, RS-IIa's, Renaissance (if you can find it). I would also stay away from the RS series past RS-III. The desirable ones in that range are again the RS-I and RS-II.2Ch Tube Audio Convert
