Hello:

I am really interested in the LSiM series speakers...

I am looking for a 5 or 7 channel set-up.

Does anyone located in the Upper Midwest (Wisconsin, Illinois, etc.) have the LSiM 707/705, 706c, 703, 702 f/x) that they care to home demo for a fellow Polkie?

:)

Would like to hear a full set of LSiM's myself. Anyway, abt Electronics has an open box set of the 705's that they will demo for you. Also, this weekend is their customer appreciation sale...and they will offer a reduced price on items not it stock also.

Might be of interest if you have not been following it:

As of yesterday, Abt only had one (a single speaker, not pair) of the 705 speakers to "look at" - but not hear.

If you want to buy the speakers - you have to pay for them and Abt will order them for you...

And yes, I am following that thread - waiting to see what they have to say about the 705.

It would be nice to be able to hear a nice set that has already been broken in by someone near...

    Hey! Thanks for the reply!

Sure you would have to be all the way down in Champaign, wouldn't you? lol :)

Did you happen to compare the 707 to the 705 when you were deciding on what speaker to get?

Can you tell me what other speakers you looked at before deciding on the LSiM?

I don't suppose they are the "midnight mahogany"...? :)

I have heard the 707's and the 705's many times. If you don't have a large room for the 707's to breathe then you will not get the same dynamics they're cable of and would recommend the 705's

What? A single mahogany 705 right? No Polk Love? They did have the 703's at one time. Looks like they are a B&W store as it seems they have many of that product on display. So, from what I can see there are no shops in Chicago-NWI to listen to the LSiM's?

    Hi, HD.

I had the LSi-15's prior to the LSiM-705's. Before that it was Monitor 10B's, so I don't have a lot of experience outside of the Polk universe.

I decided on the 705's because they were a lot less expensive than that 707's and after reading various reviews here I decided they were more suited to my needs, which is 2 channel in a moderately sized room.

Can someone with the 705 please confirm the height including the stand, etc...?

The spec says that the cabinet is 47" tall - but I assume that does not include the stand, etc? (since it says cabinet dimensions...)

    Thanks!

They are not really stands per say, as they are part of the porting design, and the dimensions are correct at 47"

    OK, thank you very much...

It is odd that they give the measurements of:

    Cabinet Dimensions:

    Height: 47"
    Width: 8 5/16"
    Depth: 14 3/8"

And then give the "stand" measurements to make the Width and Depth larger...

    Footprint:

    Width: 9 1/4"
    Depth : 16 1/4"

But for some reason the "stand" doesn't add any height....?

The "stand" is the foot of the speaker, a means of making a bigger less likely to tip footprint, it's thickness is included in the overall height. Just that it's wider and deeper than the actual enclosure itself.

    OK, I got that:)

So the 705 is 47" tall and the 707 is 51" tall...

    :)
