hi. i am new to this forum. i was considering very hard getting one polk mm10. sounddomain has them on sale right now for $140 plus shipping. I was wondering if the jbl 600.1 amp would work for this sub or if it would be too much or not the right ohm range. ohm really confuses me i have a hard time matching it up. any help appreciated. thanks.
looking for a good amp and maybe some subs!

    i believe the mm10 is rated at 500 watts...maybe 400
    that amp puts out 300
since its a 4ohm sub, you want to look at an amp that has a rating of 500x1@4 ohms
300 is a little weak for that sub
if you have 2 of those subs, youd be looking for an amp thats 1000x1 @ 2 ohms
but for a single...check out what the amp is rated at at 4 ohms

do you have any suggestions on an amp to get. i am pretty limited on funds right now. the reason i asked about the jbl is because i can get it for around 175. anything in that price range is ok

www.mitekfactoryoutlet.com - see if they still have the mtx blue thunder pro 150.2 on sale for 149.99 each... that will do around 500 x 1 bridged at 4 ohms, which will power the sub nicely.

other than that, check out profile cali series or look for a refurbished rockford / mtx / or phoenix gold. you can probably get those for 150 - 175.

the 300 watts of the 600.1 won't do it dude.

anything under 400 is a "waste of space" to me.. you're better off getting a 400 watt class ab 2 channel amp, bridging it, and getting a polk momo mm2104 instead of a mm104... (that's if u're gonna watch teh $ and go on lower power)./

or what about the Rockford Fosgate Power 551S?
    Specs are:

    140 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
    275 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
550 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms
    stereo or bridged mono output
    4-ohm stable in bridged mode
    Tri-Way capable

buff -- the mtx 502 is the "new" version of the amp that i suggested (with many versions in between)... the rockford 551S will also do the same job.

whatever you can find cheap go with.

if rodney's amp is a working quality amp, then 460 watts would be ok as well. the amp itself is a respectable model... as far as condition of it as it is used, i dont know -- talk to rodney.

Between the MTX and the RF, I usually pick the RF because the MTX aint the cleanest thing around. However since this is for a sub, distortion levels wont be an issue so either amp will be good. MTX makes a bullet proof amp that has a warehouse of output and they aint half bad looking either. I just like the RF better cause its a little cleaner and the 03 models look mean as hell, like they could get up and kick your **** all by themselves!

the mtx blue thunder amp that pbd mentioned will get you the amount of power that you expect from MTX but a higher level of sound quality than their newer equipment. i'd tend to agree with pbd on that reccomendation.

i'd take the older mtx blue thunders over RF's stuff myself although i will admit that the new RF has much better SQ than the new MTX

My favorite thing about the 03 RF amps is the look. They look mean as hell! Like the power supply for one of the Borg cubes or something. Its just too bad they had to go and smooth out the lines and get rid of the fins. I still like em but they just dont look as serious as they used to.

Oh hell yeah!!! I absolutley love the Human Reign amps from SoundStream. If I had $1500 laying around Id get me a couple of those things. I wouldnt even care how they sounded as long as they could be seen! Those are, hands down, the coolest looking anything in car audio history in my opinion.
