I've rebuilt dozens of speaker pairs, and not just Polks. Never once has a Hurricane nut failed me. I've installed them in particle board, MDF, and cabinet grade plywood. If the Hurricane nuts aren't grabbing, you're doing something wrong.

    ^^^^^^
I have not rebuilt dozens like westmassguy, but the 1/2 dozen or so I have done I have used hurricane nuts on all with 100% success. Easy to use and you can really snug up the drivers.

I'll bet Draco is thinking about T-nuts. They don't hold well in particle board type materials.
