Room Treatments
I have attached a .pdf of the room for my home theater. The room is not finished yet as the house is still being built. The measurements may be off by an 1" or so. A few things first:
1. The program I used was limited in creating this, only pay attention to the plan view with dimensions.
2. I will try to maintain at least 12" if not more off the walls for speakers.
3. The front left and right main speakers will be toed in.
4. There will be a large rug between the tv stand and both couches.
5. Ceilings are 9' high.
6. The room has an opening on the left and the bottom(no door).
7. budget for treatment around 2k max.
Just looking for a little advice on any possible room treatments. I don't want to go extreme. But I think a few treatments may help. My knowledge in this area is limited. I was thinking maybe a couple bass traps and something behind the small couch on the bottom.
Thanks

For home theater purposes, the rules of thumb are a little different than music. One, you can never have too much bass trapping. Those windows will be a problem for treating first reflections from the side walls. However you can treat first reflections from the front wall and make it mostly dead on the front wall. Bass trap the corners and either use absorption behind the main LP or diffraction.2Ch Tube Audio Convert

Use bass traps in your five corners heavy curtains for your windows and a pulldown blind thicker the better. Sound diffusor behind your main seating position at ear level the width of the seating area. Also treat the area directly behind your front left and right speakers. I bought the auralex pro plus kit for a 18' x 20' room and it was more than enough to treat the area. I think you could get away with buying the deluxe plus kit though. I had good luck using them I had a cad drawing I sent them of my room and they told me exactly where to place the foam and diffusors.

I would give GIK a call or send them a email with the pic of your room. They will work with you to get the best bang for your buck and I have used there traps to good effect. They are built well and they have many years of knowledge to back up what they sell.
Good luck.Absolute corruption empowers absolutely.
