dsw pro 660wi seems weak

Just recently got the dsw pro 660wi to replace my old Polk sub. Original was a cheap home theatre package from polk. Dont even know the model anymore. I have upgraded the center channel to csi A4. I have a sony str dg-910 receiver. The old sub did not have an LFE input so I used the right and left inputs on the sub and connected to the receiver with RCA cables using a y connector so I could plug it into the sub out on the receiver. Now that the 660 has the LFE input, I am sing 1 single RCA cable from sub out on receiver to LFE on sub. The output on the 660 seems weaker than the smaller much less powerful original. I only had the old sub at half volume and the preset output level to the sub from the receiver was at 4. Now I am at 35 out of 40 volume level on the sub and level 7 output on receiver to sub. After a lot of playing around I have it blended half way decent, but with this much more powerful sub I didnt expect to have the levels so high to get decent bass. Should I change the way I have it connected? Low bass seems good. It almost seems as though the sub output frequency on the receiver is not a broad enough range so my higher lowend frequencies that I got on the old sub are lost now. This seems to be preset in the receiver, I cant change the frequency sent to the sub. Where is the power this sub brags of???

What do you have the crossovers set at for your front speakers, might have to raise the crossover for for your front speakers or set them to small to get more frequencies playing from your sub. 80 hz. is a good starting place.

Try setting your front speakers to small and see if that makes any difference, I have a denon receiver and am not familiar with the settings on your receiver.

    Hello,
The first step is to determine if the sub is working properly. To do this with the sub's volume all the way down remove the sub cable from the back of the receiver and connect it to either the right or left audio output of your DVD player. Then begin playing a CD in the player and turn the volume up on the sub. You should hear of bass coming at fairly low volume settings.
