What are Steelbook Blue Rays

I keep seeing Blue Rays being re-released on Amazon as Steelbook. What is this? Are they better than regular Blue Rays? Thanks.

    Not to say some aren't redone and with more extras, but I believe most are the same movie, just the outer packaging is different with the steel case. It's a collectors thing...

    Yikes!!! Thanks. Sounds like a bad deal to me.

    I remember for DVDs they used to release Superbit versions for a few dollars more, and those did look better than the regular DVDs.
