That's not a "bad" thing if you play! Sax is a great instrument. I always regret not making the transition, I played clarinet as a kid and a number in my cohort moved on to the Sax.
And if you don't play, well, it's never too late!

I still own an alto but played them all. The tenor was always my personal favorite but could never afford one at the time. I played the bass sax when I was a freshman in HS marching band!Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

Check out Sax Gordon on y-tube, he is a great player.

ex-tenor sax player here.
Enjoy the journey - lots of great music out there.
Today is Dexter Gordon's birthday...one of the great jazz tenor sax players - give him a listen and be inspired!

here too. Had a Selmer Paris MK VI in college. Man that was a SWEET horn. got married had long move on to the guitar so I had my father-in-law - also a sax player and career music teacher - sell it for me. I will say that if its a sh!tty horn it will be more frustrating to learn. Pads will stick, air won't flow as well, it will seem impossible to get into tune and the tone may never seem right (I played a lot of school instruments growing up). But take some time and see if you like it before you invest in something higher end. I play tenor sax... and my dad was once in Cuba at some sort of "pawn shop there" and he snatched a selmer paris mark tenor for ~200$ . When he came back home and showed that to me I couldn't believe it. He obviously had no idea of what he just purchased as he was carrying it bare with no case etc. I told him it was a 3,000$ sax and he wouldn't believe me. Spent about 500$ restoring it and getting proper pads. Now it is sitting in my man cave and I play it every now and then.
