Anyone around race BMX

Just wondering if anyone around here or family/friends race BMX.
My better half races (45yrs old) and so does her son (13 yrs) here in New England. Anne Marie raced back in the day and had to race the boys since there were few girls that competed at that time. She used to beat the boys most of the time due to pure determination. Currently she sports the #1 plate on her Kuwahara cruiser racing bike since she finished first in points last year!!
Her son Frankie will sport #20 but in his bracket they have far more competition.
Our friends and neighbor came up with the thought of starting a new team for 2014 and we did. Their son also races and like us are committed to racing every week.
The team name...... Rhode Island Insanity sporting the good old red, white and blue colors.
We have sponsors, team logo and jerseys put together so far. A dealership, golf club, auto body shop and a pizzeria sponsoring us so far and more to come. We also have a few private/family sponsors. I'm sure I am missing some things for I am not involved, yeah right!!
We are heading to the BMX Nationals in Pittsburgh PA the first week in July. Frankie finished first last year at the Nationals at Kingston Point NY however for this year he'll race in a more completive class. Hopefully over Easter Anne Marie will race at Chesapeake BMX in MD.
NO WAY WILL I GET ON A BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am far too smart for that.
Its a great family sport and they do teach sportsmanship. I know our race team will exhibit exceptional sportsmanship. Two of our team members are currently enrolled in the Naval Sea Cadets one being Frankie and the other the team managers son who is 14 yrs old.
Maybe I'll find a few pictures to post.

My neice raced for many years. Brother-in-law drove her all over the east coast.

I did in the 1977 till 1988. I was a big SE fan boy all the way. Then i went into skate parks full time, just too much fun to go back to the track. Most of our tracks from back in the day are now in terrible shape but they still race on them. Me I'm too old to fall on asphalt as most tracks are nowadays, although falling in the skate park isn't much different but the odds that I won't are better than the 7-8 wide on the track.

Both my sons raced for years. Great family fun.

Holy cape crusaders batman! I raced back in 77 thru 82. Rode a Redline MX-II frame, forks, stem and bars. Best part last name is Oakley so the BMX shop in Nor Cal. sponsored me and gave me freebies. Wasn't that good but still have a few trophies in garage.
BMX is a great sport and good family memories. You will travel a lot but it is worth it. FWIW, what till mountains bikes come into the pic; My last one cost me 2100 just for the frame. I ride almost daily.W4S SX-1000, Adcom gfp-750, Polk 1.2tl, W4S DAC 2 DSDse, 2012 mac mini (mod), JRivers ver. 19, WD Cloud NAS 2 t.b., Monster Cable AVS-2000 signature, Doug's Alpha I/C & Doug's biwire 6' speaker cables -
I've hit the local bmx course a few times for fun on my mountain bike, and at a good speed for my taste! I can't imagine the speeds they travel, with multiple people on it. Crazy..
