Hello guys,
I am seeking your advise again about which Polk speakers to be selected with Onkyo TX-NR626 for 7.1 home theater system. The room dimensions are 15 ft X 15 ft with high of 11 ft. I don’t have specific budget, however I am looking for the best sound I can get from the mentioned receiver in the room.

Many thanks and I really appreciate your help.

If you're going to use an Onkyo 6XX then I'd say get some Rti-A5 towers, the CSi-A6, F/XiA6s for sides and maybe some Rti-A3s for rear surrounds.

I believe that Onkyo can power the above. Although it would not be a bad idea to move up the chain to the 7XX series as that has pre-outs and gives you the option of adding external power.

As for subs, if you want to stay with Polk get a DSWpro 660.

That should give you a decent set up for HT. If you want to spend more, you'll need to upgrade that receiver.

If you've already got that AVR I'd recommend some bookshelf speaks and a VERY capable sub.

Thank you for the valuable comments. However, what do you think about the below 7.1 combination?
    • QTY-1 Subwoofer PSW series PSW505
    • QTY-2 Monitor 70 II (Front R+L)
    • QTY-1 Polk CS20 (Central)
    • QTY-4 Monitor 30 (Surround)

If you're going the Monitor line, you'll want the CS2, not the CS20.

If you plan on a sub and are not getting an external amp, I would recommend Monitor 50 or 60's for your fronts.

That's a fine combo but I'd really think about an Onkyo 7XX series for its pre-outs. I run a similar set up but on an Onkyo TX-SR 805 which is TWICE the weight of a 6XX Onkyo and 130 watts x 7. M-70 towers REALLY benefit from extra power up front. So having a receiver that has pre-outs (which the 7xx has but the 6xx does not) would prove beneficial for when you might upgrade the power to the towers.

But if you already have the 626, I wouldn't sweat it. Just set the crossover point for the M-70s at 80Hz and let the sub to the heavy lifting down low!

Fyi- 7xx Onkyo's no longer have pre-outs. The 717 was the last of the sevens to include pre-outs. Currently 828 or higher

I've run the 70's off the B&K amp and that is where they performed their best. Currently, I have them just off the Sony and feel I'm not getting their all. However, if you have the sub and don't run them full, you'll probably be better.

My recommendation for the 50's or 60's over the 70's is based on owning the 50's and comparing them on an AVR sounding much better than the 70's to my ear.

All that said...you won't go wrong with the combo you suggested. And you won't always wonder why you didn't go big.

But get the CS2 instead of the CS20. It's the center to match the monitor line.

That's a shame. That feature gap really puts a mark on the ONKYO line-up, so there seems little point in the 7xx models any longer, 6xx is a gine entry level, and the 8xx is now the only next step that makes sense.

    Still happy with my 806.

First, thank you all for the great support ^_^. Second, I finally ordered my Onkyo receiver and selected the TX-NR727 over the 626. Now, it is the time to place my order for the speakers. To me, it is really a difficult decision specially with all those variety models available under Polk such as RTis, monitor, …etc.

While searching old threads on the forum in order to find what was the selection of the speakers done by others, I found the following:
    • QTY-1: center channel speaker: Polk CSi A6.
    • QTY-6: front + surround speakers: Polk RTi A3

My question is, if I go with the above combinations, what will be the advantages and disadvantages in comparing with the following one:
    • QTY-1 Subwoofer PSW series PSW505
    • QTY-2 Monitor 70 II (Front R+L)
    • QTY-1 Polk CS20 (Central)
    • QTY-4 Monitor 30 (Surround)

I would cancel that order. You can still get last year's 717 with pre-outs. In exchange for a lesser version of audyssey and built-in Bluetooth radios. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120205
