Greetings!

I am a proud new owner of some polk LsiM703 speakers.

A bit about my setup:

I am running a DAC into a marantz power amp and powering the speakers. The signal from the DAC is full range stereo. The speakers sound amazing! I am worried about cranking it though.. could the low frequencies present in the signal damage the speaker? I have also ordered a sub with crossovers that i'll set to 90-100 hz when I get it but in the meantime is it safe to run a full range signal to the LsiM703s without fear of the super low frequencies trashing my speakers?

Congrats on you purchase and welcome to the forum.

Full range is recommended. Once you get your sub you can then adjust accordingly the crossover settings to your liking but recommendation would be between 40-80hz. This also may pertain to genre ex. if you are running Dub, or rap with a heavy bass you will more than likely run 80hz and let the sub take the load of the lower frequencies.

    Hope this helps

With some common sense in relation to the volume control- yes it should be no problem. Congrats on the speakers, I have a set of the 703's as well. For most music, I see no issues as long as you are not pushing your amp to the level of distortion or clipping the signal.

Adding the sub later will of course take the load off of the woofer in the bookshelf speaker for lower HZ frequencies. As long as you are not trying to play some really low bass test tones at high volume levels, then you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies.. I figured resonable volume levels were safe..

spent 2 hours listening to radio head yesterday.. i finalyl understand what a soundstage means. I close my eyes and can literally visualize the performers position in my head. I never knew 2 channel audio could sound like this.. what shame that the loudness wars have killed quality recordings mostly.

anyways.. thanks for such amazing speaker tech at an affordable price polk

Radiohead is one of my favorites for listening. Took Amnesiac or OK Computer for every speaker demo before I settled on my Totems.

    Congrats on the new speakers!
