Hello guys,
I need your help to advise me about which Polk speakers to be installed with Sony STR-DN1040. I have done my homework and I comp up with the following speakers to form 7.1 sound system.
•QTY-2 Monitor 70 (R+L front, each one has max 275 Watt)
• QTY-1 MONITOR 25C ( Surround, max 175 Watt)
•QTY-1 Subwoofer PSW series PSW505
•QTY-2 RM8 Satellite Speaker(R+L mid, each one has max 125 W)
•QTY-2 Monitor 50 (R+L Rear, each one has max output 150 Watt)

Furthermore, the room dimensions are 15 ft X 15 ft with high of 11 ft. Till the moment, I have not purchase the Sony STR-DN1040, but the reason to go with it is the several HDMI input and also the up scaling feature that has. I am open to any other model if it is within the same price range you guys suggest.

Trillions thanks,
Essa

ignore those power ratings on the speakers, one, the sony will never come close, and 2, those are mostly for show. the sony receivers are great for one reason, they work almost seamlessly if you only run sony electronics(PS3, bluray/dvd, TV) but that is about as far as their greatness goes, look for an onkyo with pre-outs(i think the 717 or 727, whichever is the current model), for the most up to date one, or an older one, onkyos seam to have the most features for the cash, some love them around here, some see them as a compromise of quantity for quality. however, im sure everyone will agree they are much better than the sony, and you will be happy with them. thats a great HT sub, i have 2 myself, and i have no expirience with any of those speakers.

The Sony will work for what you need it to do, but most any modern receiver these days has a lot of HDMI inputs and upscales. That's a lot of speakers in a smallish room btw.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

    Kitchen

    Sonos zp90
    Grant Fidelity tube dac
    B&k 1420
    lsi 9's

I would say, CS2 for the center to match the front stage, not the 25C. Lose the RM8's and run a 5.1 like Tony said.

I would also argue for the Monitor 60s. Doubt you'll notice a difference between them and 70's with the PSW505 in the system. Put the extra money towards cables and Blurays!

Thank you all for the advice. You guys have convinced me not to go with the Sony STR-DN1040. I will try to pick another one and do my research again and get back to seek your thoughts.

Thank you all again and I really appreciate it....

    Echo the previous comments:

Get an ONKYO or PIONEER AVR at whatever model level has the number of inputs you need and has pre-outs so you can add a power amp later. That will be the most bang for your buck.
    Receiver: ONKYO TX-NR929 7.1 AVR 130wpc
    Mains: 2x Polk RTA 8TL's
    Center: Polk CS245i
Surrounds: 2x Klipsch RS-41ii (because they fit perfectly over the door and window)
    Rear Surr: 2x Polk M4a '90
    Subwoofer: Speakerlab DAS-SW dual-voice-coil 10" '88 30Hz-150Hz
    Subwoofer Amp: ONKYO A-8019 AMP '85 100wpc
    Display: Samsung 55" UNC55-8000 3D LED
    Console: Xbox360
DVR: custom MythTV rig w/ 3 tuners OTA
    Zone2: 2x Polk M5b '87
