Found this one today a Denon DVD-2200 Universal Player not bad for $14.99 some of the specs don't look bad.

"Burr-Brown 24-bit, 192-kHz Audio D/A Converter
The DVD-2200 uses a 24-bit, 192-kHz audio D/A converter that is well protected
from noise caused by fluctuations in current from the power supply. Since the level
of quantization noise within the frequency range is uniform for all frequencies, this
D/A converter ensures that all the sound you hear is as clear and noise-free as
possible."

"Digital Bass Management
When playing DVD-Video, DVD-Audio or Super Audio CD sources, it is possible to
preset speaker configurations. The crossover point is fixed at 80 Hz with 12 dB high
and 24 dB low pass filter slopes."

Found a few Denon items at our local salvation army store. Nothing super fancy.
However, I'm not quite ready to play with the big boys yet.

    Nice find.

I was using a repurposed Denon DVD player (dump find) as my CDP at the NH house from the time we went "live" up here 'til we got everything moved up from MA and I re-installed the Marantz and Kevin Kennedy hot-rodded cheap-jack Chinese (Zhaolu... at least I think that's the brand name) DAC in the 'real' hifi.

The Denon (I don't recall the model number... I could look...) was physically attractive, well-behaved (i.e., it would play any disc I threw at it) and - best of all - sounded pretty darned good. The Marantz and DAC do sound better, though...

The photo above depicts the original setup in NH; the Denon, Dynaco SCA-35 (ppEL84 integrated), bang & olufsen TX-2 tt with b&o MMC-4 cartridge, Bottlehead Seduction phono preamp, Yamaha CT-1010 tuner and a pair of Altec Santiagos.

Owned a Denon 2200 for some time. Not a bad player. It's on par with the newer 2910.
