Anyway, some of you have asked where I was and if everything was ok.

Well, quite a few of you, actually.

No, everything was not ok.

I don't want to over-share here but I also don't want to PM all the people who asked.

The past year has been really rough for me. The girl I was seeing for the past 5 years of my life was in the hospital this time last year. While she was there, I found out that she had been cheating on me. She was living with me too and taking advantage of that.

It took about 8 months to finally get her out of my face. In that time, I gutted my basement and started rebuilding it too.

I also had some legal matters regarding someone sending me threatening letters and harassing me with magazine subscriptions. He wasn't even harassing the right guy. But I had to go to court over it.

When things finally started looking up for me (met a new girl, got a stellar review at work, got a nice raise, so on and so forth) my grandmother passed the night before Thanksgiving.

Then the new girl I was seeing broke up with me on Christmas Day. Yes, you read that right.

Then the wisdom tooth surgery I had ended up having complications. I was in work a total of 3 days from December 20th to January 28th because of it.

I'm still dealing with fallout from all of it. Both exes are now stalking me too. fun.

I tried to pop in here from time to time but with all the horror that was going on, I had no time and I really couldn't talk about much of it anyway until it was all done and over with.

So sorry if I neglected anything for anyone. I did my best to tie up any loose business ends I had with anybody a long while ago. I'm pretty sure I got them all straight 'cause no one was complaining about me. Sorry if I worried anyone (I doubt it) and sorry if anyone feels that I ignored them.

Things are quieter now. Sometimes too quiet. Gets lonely living by yourself in house big enough to hold a whole family.

I'll try to be around more often.

The Polkfest is still happening too and we'll get more on that this summer.

Apologies to everyone that inquired about my well being and I didn't get back to. I'm pretty beat up but I'm still here, surviving...barely.

Wisdom teeth complications? If you had dry-sockets, I can empathize. I had both my bottoms turn dry after removal about 10 years ago. That's pain that you just can't function with. Nothing helps it, except clove oil. If that's the case, I'm sure you won't go near anything flavored with cloves for about 5 years.

Hang in there. Eventually things will come around.

No, wasn't dry socket. It ended up getting infected. I was on Augmentin for almost a solid month. Still not quite right from it.

Really sorry to hear all that came down on you. This last year and even the start of this one has brought a lot of gloom and doom to many here. Myself included, but I can't compete with that, yet, and hope not to.

I know what it's like to be F-d up for weeks on end on antibiotics though, not fun! But hopefully, you're on the mend. As for women, there will always be others. But that doesn't take away the pain or the betrayal.

Stalked? That does not sound good. But I'm sure it will pass. Just look to what lies ahead!

And then, there's always P-Fest. Which will undoubtedly be great! So hang in there and hopefully it will all fall in place.

Sorry your grandmother passed John. my condolences.

Thanks, Sal. I'm actually glad she went when she did. She had been degrading due to dementia for a while and she was getting to the point where organs were failing. She passed in her sleep after a bout of pneumonia. I miss her but due to the dementia, she hadn't been her for almost 2 years. Death isn't really a positive thing but it's better that it went down that way than an alternative.

    Hey John,
It good to hear things are looking better and keep the faith. Maybe you need to make a trip for a couple days somewhere nice and quiet like Charlestown RI this summer. Our beaches are beautiful and far from over crowded we also have the Charlestown pond which is awesome for clams/quahogs and oysters. Can't get fresher than that! So relaxing too! If you think it is something you'd like to take advantage of let me know and I'll help arrange things for you. We have kayaks and a canoe for the pond and all the things you'd need to have a great time here. Friends of ours own a motel which is real nice and close to the beach.
    Just a thought
