Breaking down the rig :(

Well, the time has come. I've got most of it boxed up as of last night and I'll box up the rest, it's sad to see it torn down and I hope to get into a place soon to where I can get it set back up. At the very least I'll be running the SC and VRM-60's for now, I don't think I'll be in a situation any time soon that I'll be able to have a sub. It's sad to pack it all up, but knowing that new beginnings are right around the corner for me is exciting. Does everyone have two cable boxes? I'm going to have a tote for all cables for the main rig, and a heafty box of misc cables/parts/junk. Hahaha, I'm fairly certain that it's normal for most of us.
I tell you what, packing, getting a house ready to sell, and moving a thousand miles is a pain in the ****. It will all be over shortly!

Positive vibes dude.Look at it this way, you'll be able to set it up all new with maybe a better arrangement and with the cables run better etc.
I'm sure you will be fired up when it comes time to pull it all out again.
As for cables i have 2 plastic containers full of cables not even in use right now. They're like tools, gotta have em in every size and shape to run.Never know what might change with a new piece of equipment.Be prepared!Main Rig-Realistic AM/FM Record player 8 track boasting 4 WPC

Thanks, back to the motherland. I took a transfer to Des Moines, I'll be shipping out of N.C. the 20th of next month. It's exciting and scary, but I think I'll like the area. -

Yes it sucks.....Bad.
The longest for me was 3 months without my toys and a 1700 miles move. I took a transfer to Tucson and my wife stayed back in Seattle to sell the house.
I had major heartburn with the idea of Mayflower moving my system, my bikes, and my guns.My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
On a good note, I ran through some albums last night with the squeezebox > sc > vrm's and it sounded really good. I think when I sell the house I may be in the market for an amp upgrade... Tonight will be working in the basement, staging photos tomorrow! Who wants to buy a house in the mountains, I'll cut you a deal!

I will give you a set of LSi 7's for the house."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Been there, done that many times. Moving across country or across the street, it just sucks, period...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

I feel your pain!
My last move into my present house was 10 years ago. We did it all with a large truck and it was truly a pain. Order of priorities once the truck was unloaded: set up the bed and then the audio system. Getting quality sleep and having tunes during the unpacking made things much better."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -

Thanks for the offer Dan, but I have plenty of speakers right now! I'm not sure what I'm going to do once I get planted, I need to do a shootout again with a few pairs and unload a few after that. The 9's and Mirages are boxed up since I have the packaging, I'll keep the Boston's up as long as I'm able to. After that it will only be comedy radio through the phone or iPad, I can live with that for a few weeks. I'll most likely get my Lsi front stage up for sale, I feel like I'm just ready to try something else. Same with the amp, and BD player, and a few cables........ It never does end, does it? -
^ You need to stop by when heading west and maybe I can off load some speakers for you and you can pick up something else that takes less space (cash or a good meal maybe). lol2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Thanks for the offer, but if I'm going its all going! You don't need a 42" zero turn, do you? -

Guh! I spent two and a half hours digging the work car out last week, and that was with three people. One being a very healthy 19 year old. I should have just drug it out with the truck, but the neighbor needed to get out also. Sucks being nice sometimes. -

I have worked every freaking night in the last three weeks, packing sucks. Moving sucks. Cleaning sucks. Painting sucks. I'm outta here in fourteen days nevertheless! Iowa better thaw out for my return. On the bright side, I have had three showings in the last week, and one of them is coming back tomorrow. Good sign, one would hope.

I hear ya man. Moving is a miserable experience. You'll be settled in in no time though, I'm sure.
Read-alot, you're from my old stomping grounds it sounds like. I lived in Hickory and Boone for a good 14 years prior to moving to VA.That's a pleasant place to live most of the year!2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Thanks. I work the Boone area a lot, I spent most of my day up there today.
So apparently my second showing went great, until my neighbor came out and told them a drug dealer lives on our street? They were planning on making an offer until that... I asked and she denies it, but she doesn't know which way is up half the time between her pain pills and alcohol use.
Damn. -

Definitely NOT cool! Hang in there. I can sympathize. When I first moved up north (and I mean NORTH) I moved from one apartment to another 5 times in 10 years till we finally decided to stay up here and buy a house. And now, I DREAD the thought of the MOVE that will come with retirement...probably have to have a fire sale and will be boxing for weeks on end. But, fortunately that's not happening for a while!
