RX-V1800 HDMI out port damaged

New to this (forums and website) so be patient. I have a RX-V1800 with a damaged HDMI out port. Can it be repaired and/or is it worth it? The damage is visible, although it took about an hour of troubleshooting cursing and double checking with every single HDMI cord in the house before I turned up the lights grabbed a flashlight and looked in the port. The 2nd pin from the top on the right is gone and the third pin on the left is clearly "smashed" to the back of the port. So far no guilty parties have admitted to touching any of my valuable components but every time I ask the dog what happened he looks right at the cat.....I think he is on to something. Please let me have it, right or wrong. After spending some time perusing other posts. I am glad to call this forum- my first.

Sweet I am the first one to reply to my own post. I forgot to add that I have or was given 2 monitor 65T's and a CS2. I know there is much better but that is what I have. Thanks for reading.

I don't know if its worth getting repaired or not, but the hdmi boards are usually pretty pricey and that is probably no longer under warranty. If you have an authorized yammie dealer nearby it might be worth getting checked out. Otherwise I would sell it on ebay as for parts or not working (but specify in the description that everything else still works) and put the 75-100 you will get towards a new (or used) receiver. Sorry that happened and that I don't have a better answer. That is a GREAT receiver so that really sucks.

    but nonetheless welcome to CP!

Deep down I knew the answer but I needed someone else to tell me. OK I am going to put it up for sale and see what happens. Man I am going to miss it. Now that that is over what are some good options for me? Let's start with what I have no laughing now! I am here so you guys can help me get the best out of my current system and/or upgrade. OK in the room I use most for all media I have-
    Monitor 65T pair
    CS2
    RM8 pair
    SA-W2500
    BDP-S5100
    DW339 DLP
    M120HSR Pro Series
    XBOX360
And last but not least the RX-V1800. I do have in a box I just dug out of the storage room a BDP-S5100 but I can't imagine that thing could run my current speakers and there is no way I am using the ones it came with. Any thoughts on a AV receiver for the well rounded movie/music room are greatly appreciated. Oh and the dog told me again it was the cat...Man I am going to miss that receiver.

What about an HDMI splitter? Do they work? Ok that is a dumb question I am sure they do what they are supposed to do but does using on degrade the sound and picture quality? Does anyone have an opinion or experience with HDMI splitters? Please keep in mind the distance from brp to projector is 12' 3" non negotiable.

Thank you so much DSkip you have single handedly saved my receiver. I am going to get the BYTECC HMSP102 $26.99 over at newegg. Unless someone has some better opinions, options or ideas but I think a splitter is the way to go for me but then again an oppo would be a great way to begin my upgrade one or two peices at a time.

What type of display do you have the RX-V1800 connected to?

If it has component connections, you could go that route - nothing wrong with that.

Nice unit - I have one too.
