Like others here, I just got a good deal on some new RTI-70's. I will be using them as fronts and want to match them with the right center speaker for seamless movie sound. The system builder on the Polk web site suggest the older models the CSi30 or Csi40. However, I can't find a new CSi40, and can only find one place with a CSi30's (Crutchfield for $149). Should I buy this or go with one of the new models the CSi3 or CSi5?

Are you guys happy with the CSi30?

Does anyone know where to get the CSi40 still? (I live in Los Angeles area)

Thanks for your help.

The 30 is good but the 40 is better. There are still some out there, you just have to look. I'd suggest calling every CC and Fry's anywhere near you and see if anyone has any left. I'd imagine there are quite a few stores in a reasonable distance in the LA area.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!:)

Thanks I appreciate the ebay lead. I have been looking, I don't know how I could have missed it. I will also check out the Circuit City's and Fry's around me.

spasticpitbull: You say the 30 was good the the 40 was a lot better. Can you describe what you mean and the percived difference.

You will have a fuller richer sound from the 40 then the 30 especally when used for HT.

dave hit it. the drivers are the same in the 70 as in the 40. 70-80% of HT comes through the center and the 40 produces a louder richer sound as dave stated. good luck

The 40 will give you better upper-mid bass over a 30. The new center channels Csi3 and Csi5 will be too bright for the 70.

Thanks guys for your help and suggestions. I took it and searched my local Circuit City's (man do they have a lot of stores in the Los Angeles area) and I found an open box CSi40 for $159. Even though it was open box, they still are going to honor the manufactures 5 year warranty.

I would have to say that I was truely blessed. I got my RTi70 for $99 each and now the deal on the Center. WOW, I got speakers that list for around $1,500 for $359. :):D

Now onto the sub selection. I am going to visit HSU Research and check out their subs. They seem to be vary highly rated and they are not too far from me. Anyone have any opinions they would like to share regarding these subs.

Great deals. I've heard of good deals on 70's but $99 a piece is the best I've heard of.
Hsu seems to be a pretty good bang for the buck. I've been researching them as well. They do seem to have some QC issues that are always being discussed on their forum. If your looking for a great sub look at SVS as well. They have a very loyal following on this forum.

The RTi70 were in the original boxes but they had been opened. They sound great and look brand new. Yeah I got a great deal on them from Fry's. I think they gave me a special deal because the salesmen told me he could sell me a PSW505 subwoofer for $499 less a $200 instant rebate that Polk has going on for speakers right now. After I went to the bank to get the cash, we wrote up the subwoofer and he went to the manager for approval and didn't get it. It turns out that the discount doesn't apply to subwoofers only main speakers. So I think they gave me a special deal because they made the mistake on the sub. BTW, this is the last set of them they had.

After visiting many local Circuit City's the cheapest I found the RTi70's was $215 a piece.
