Well, the time is right to recap the X/O's on my SRS's. I have originals, and after a brief experience with 1.2's, decided I like the sound of them. So, we'll be just replacing old with new. My friend got the 1.2's and will be doing his X/O's at the same time. He's doing the tl thing. It should be interesting. After pulling the X/O's, I found stickers stating they were made Dec. 3rd(L), & 8th(R), 1985. It was a little scary cutting all those wires. Apparently, the later models had quick-connects, my friends do anyway. All parts will be Sonicraft recommended. Can't wait.

Man you're going to enjoy them for sure now. I loved my SRS for the very short period i listened to them before modding them. I started modes with basic and lesser expensive parts and progressed as i was able. They sure sounded better after the mods. It's more efficient to do all the mods at once and not have to fool with them again but it's a lot of fun doing them one at the time and seeing the difference they all make individually. It makes a huge difference. Dont forget the resistors. Mills are great and are not too expensive.

Down the road dynamat the baskets, reseal the cabinets along with new driver / xover gaskets, and use rings if you can get them or hurricane nuts. Change your interconnect connections to binding posts or possibly neutrik connectors. I personally stay with the posts as I feel its hard to beat a plain old god quality binding post or barrier strip. Either way you can improve the interconnecting wire to the same quality as your speaker wire. Updateing the tweets to the RDO's is a big improvement too.

You prbably have read all this before. i just still get excited thinking about the mods I made to my SRS's. You won't regret it if you do it right. If you like bottom end, the dimensional inductor makes a big difference as well.
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Yep, I'm excited too. I did the RDO 194's awhile back. The guy from Sonicraft custom made the values we needed, and matched everything really well, according to my tech. Should be cool.

I just saw a pic of 1 of my x/o's, looks crowded. There's quite a difference between the older and newer boards. Mine(older) is bigger, so more room for those monster caps, which my tech likes. It also has 3 coils, instead of the 1 the 1.2's have. FWI; you guys have one of the finest vintage techs on the planet here. embrown057
