Direction Sought

Hi,

Looking for direction on what are suitable Polk speakers for a home theater system. Constraints are cost and aesthetics. I am willing to spend for quality but do not want to spend a lot of money - say $600. The aesthetics (aka 'the wife') mean I do not want wall mounted speakers.

TV will be situated in a built in wall unit and I was thinking 3 book shelf speakers for Left, Center and Right. A sub-woofer. And two rear speakers in the ceiling. Wall unit is 8' wide and room is 19' 5" X 14' 10". However, wall unit will be off center on the shorter wall as room merges with a dining area.

Questions:

1. Confirmation that in-ceiling speakers are suitable for rear channels? If so, are there any that are more suitable for the use? And are in-wall also suitable? Aesthetics may dictate rectangular over circle.

2. which shelf speakers? I will also be using the speakers for music (perhaps more so than with the TV)

Thanks

Your going to have to up your budget for a quality 5.1 setup. Good luck.

So let me be more precise.

TSi100 + R150 + RC60i + PSW108. Cost approx $700. Together or separately, are their any drawbacks with this combination I should be aware of? Or can I just put various speakers together in the 5.1 config? I can go higher than $600 if required. But I am not looking for top end. Quality, in the sense I used above, was using Polk for my speakers in the first place. I could easily buy an off the rack 5.1 system (Bose, Harmon etc) but want to customize to allow the potential for in ceiling if I can.

I would probably go with a different sub. In Polk, the PSW 505, DSW 5xx or 6xx, or a Micropro.
