Massive sinkhole swallows priceless Corvettes at the National Corvette Museum

Unbelievable story out of Bowling Green... A huge sinkhole has opened up directly beneath the Museum's exhibit hall. I wonder how such a large cavern like this was not detected during construction or in the years that followed. I would think that cracks in the floor would have appeared before giving way like this. The Museum is also the site of the Corvette factory, so I also wonder what the geology is like under the plant.

I'm just sayin'!
That's in my neck of the woods. Sort of. -
I went to school at WKU in Bowling Green for a short time, then switched to Indiana University.
Someone just sent me this link.

My sister lives in BG, and I've toured the museum while visiting there... I'll just say, that there are a LOT of caverns and caves around there. And it's not at all uncommon for a hard rain to open one up that was previously undiscovered.Ludicrous gibs!

Almost all of them were on loan from GM. Priceless, unreplacable cars. A true shame.

Great....now we can pay for a Corvette bailout.
Sucks man, nice cars too. If they were classic Gremlins, this story may not have reached our ears.HT SYSTEM-

Thought the exact same thing. Did a double and triple take on that one. Kept looking around for a "gotcha" line on the page.Display: LG 47" LCD | AVR: Marantz SR5005 | BD: Panasonic BDT-210 | CD/SACD: Oppo 980 |
