    You were out of line.

    Your response would have been perfectly OK if he had informed you that you were "one cheap mother****er" or "go **** yourself you cheap **** son of a ****", but he didn't.

    Those are the most commonly used responses. At least that's what I get when I e-mail someone with a counter offer.
