I just picked up a GFP-750 and the jumper pins for the balanced outputs are missing. Can anyone advise on what gauge wire can be used for the pins? According to the manual to use the units unbalanced CD outs, pins 1 and 3 need to be shorted. Thanks

Those pins are on sale at the moment^^^^^^^^^ -
Thank you very much PD2. I tried a search earlier but could not come up with anything useful. Maybe my search terms weren't clear enough.Speakers: Polk SDA-SRS xovers rebuilt by David, RDO194's, Dynamat, BH5, glued magnets, new cloth, custom aluminum terminal plates with Cardas posts and Speakon interconnect

I see you have the manual, but just in case others read this and don't. Here is a direct link to Adcom's manual. It shows the correct location of whatever jumper method you implement. The Cardas jumpers pittdog linked to are nice and not too expensive. Wire size, not sure. Maybe 12 gauge? 12 gauge is like .080, XLR pin is ~.090.

Enjoy the Adcom GFP-750 Preamp...it is a classic, and a great performer.
I use the XLR interconnects, but for short runs I think there is little noticeable difference.SDA SRS 1.2

I own the same pre, what does happen if there is no pin?? My pre has them and I never ran XLR before.W4S SX-1000, Adcom gfp-750, Polk 1.2tl, W4S DAC 2 DSDse, 2012 mac mini (mod), JRivers ver. 19, WD Cloud NAS 2 t.b., Monster Cable AVS-2000 signature, Doug's Alpha I/C & Doug's biwire 6' speaker cables

GV#27 handle is now FTGV. Very smart fellow. Actually what it means is that the low side ( - ) of the balanced input has nothing attached when lacking the shorting pin, and the high input impedance device it looking for something to amplify. And it may find radiated noise and insert it into the audio.
Tieing it to ground simply means it's now seeing a zero input. Kind of a cleanliness issue. Might, maybe, in some cases lower noise floor in other words.
