Denon POA2200--Yamaha RX-V1
Hello all. Id like to hook my Denon to the Avr & there is tons of ports. The manual says Main in- Main out. Which one do i plug amp into ? I have picture of manual so that may help..
..
Another ? Will cd signal going through Avr then to Amp sound as good -- as CD to Amp then to Speakers (which sounds fantastic) i know i should be able to tell when i do try it-but thought id ask . TIA
..
Been using controls on back of Denon for volume since i picked it up recently. Figured id try SDA's on HT & see how it sounds
..

Thanks Rick. The Denon has cd & normal ports. So i may be able to still use both at different times :)

Yes the sound is a little different on my ears but not too bad. I did notice a big diffence with the Denon pushing the SDA's. I know avr's can push them ok BUT put a amp on them makes a BIG difference. If anyone has a chance to get a Denon amp they are a decent amp :) Thanks for advice as this Yamaha has alot of ports for adding amps & didnt want to damage it

Well i listened to this Amp running through the Yamaha today. Watched a couple of movies & it does a pretty good job with the SDA's. I have owned this very same Denon Amp before about 2 years ago & used it on a Denon AVR & it does a very good job on HT with the SDA's IMO. The Yamaha RX-V1 is a little more intimidating to me i guess :)

Is that RX-V1 black or is it the gorgeous champagne finish I've been drooling over for years?

I had to laugh when I saw the guy who posts the pics of all the great looking women make the comment "drooling over for years" and he's talking about an AVR.:) :):)

The guy i got it from wanted 5 bills for it. I tried for 3 weeks to get him to lower price & he then put he was interested in trades. So i traded him a receiver & 1 bill = 350.00 so i did ok. I offered him 400.00 cash in the begining-go figure :)

As far as unit itself. It is very impressive. I was thinking of going new Monitor 70's & 40's but decided to use what i have-vs-selling/storing Vintage Monitors/SDA's. Adding the Denon was a big plus & so far its amazing on HT. I still need to learn the receiver & remote though. It can be very complex. I would love to get the new Yamaha but above my budget

That cable bill is a B#$*$! Beautiful Yamaha there even heavier than my Onkyo, now that's some weight and build quality! You can stream Netflix with no hiccups in this state?

    Enjoy!

Check it out for the price it's great I use it for Netflix (Dexter) too it does a real nice job on that, a newer HD chip, than the 590. So it does the Smart Tv Internet part too so can I keep my old dumb Tv a while longer.

Well after 2 day of listening the Yamaha sounds very good HT with the Denon..BUT on music it totally svcks. Either ive got to go in & adjust something? Its a totally different kind of sound. Like there is a bag over the speakers :(
I hooked the CD player to just the Denon & it just sounds so much better. Difference of night & day. Dont understand why this is ? I have the 10's sitting (unhooked) in limbo-hoping to use them somewhere else.
    ..
Maybe SDA's dont belong on AVR's even with a amp?

Are you using 2 ch direct or something similar? I know my Denon has a lot of other processing on the stereo source unless I select pure direct vs even just plain stereo or dobly digital. I'm sure you'd like a nice 2ch pre better than the avr, but it should at least be decent depending on the settings.

There are some people here who do use SDAs in a HT set up and seem to be OK with that.

Have you tried the Monitor 10s as L/Rs in that system because that would seem a good pairing. I don't know why your sound seems veiled? I run M-70s off the Onkyo below and there is no such problem although the Onkyo can make them a bit bright on CDs.

I've often thought of moving my 10s to replace the M-70s but I never got around to it, because the Ms sound good on Movies.

Actually, at the moment, I'm chilling to some college FM on a Pioneer SX-838 and a set of EPI 100Vs, smmmooooth, very smmmoooothhhh!

Yea when I listen to music I put my receiver in Pure Audio Mode the little button on the left front that has a blue lighted ring when it's on. So my system does double duty although I know I need a separate 2 channel amp for the fronts. Gotta love those old Pioneers nice wood had a SX1050 from 1976-1987

Thanks guys. I gotta play around with the receiver. The remote is a nightmere & ya gotta get into the system & make adjustments . It sounded very good on the Monitor 10's & when i hooked Amp to it i think i gotta select something inside it & for some reason it sounds different even with the 10's on the Amp too. So i know its not the speakers & the Amp is fine. I tried it upstairs on my Adcom set up just to make sure. Not the Amp. I will mess with it tomorrow as i have some down time coming :) thanks again
