is it possible to combine bass frequencies from a room that is -6ft offset in the verticle? what is the optimum box config of the 2 structures? can a horn and a sensor be used so we can combine the 2? Sounds **** i know but there is an ecomomy of scales here...

1/4Twin :p

btw the theater and bomb shelter are never played at the same time at capacity:D

Henry, you HAVE to get your drinking under control. A CP intervention might be in order. ;)

I think what he is saying doc, is his HT room is downstairs, and the 'bomb shelter' 2ch rig is above, but offset by 6ft. Is there a way to use a sub for both rooms, but with some kind of quick change, ie, firing in the room below, or moved slightly to fire via a horn into the room above?

    Cheers,
    Russ

My ISP crashed on me last night so I finally gave up. No wonder F1 said Henry WTH!!!

Yes to Russ on both but bomb shelter is on the bottom floor and is adjacent to my theater. Please refer to the crap drawing.

again can I couple the CS+ if it were located between the 2 rooms or in the Bomb Shelter? I would like to free up some room in the Theater room by moving my subs... thats what inspired this train of thought.

and BTW a CP intervention is welcomed at any time!!! I'll buy the beer :D

    Nothing in my email yet.......

Based on the picture, are you proposing to connect two physically separate rooms with a tuned vent and keep the subs in one room and get bass into the other via this vent?

    Oh....DUH!

I'm home today, and sicker than a sumbitch. Fever hit 103+ about 3 hours ago and things weren't looking good. Got it back down to 102 at this point - at least I can see straight.

Send it to my home email addy, Henry.

I actually thought about doing something similar by placing my subs in a small storage room that is attached to the theater room. Hmmm... might have to do a late night experiment and get some measured results.

sounds like an ideal infinite baffle candidate to me!

    check out this thread:

you can use your IB in the two spaces. you just have to reverse the polarity when you want to listen in the opposite room...

You nailed it Doc. Is a horn an option? I hope your back @ normal temp and no longer ill.

I believe i have convinced myself an additional ~16 ft needs added onto the back of my house. Looks like no more toys:( I think the lesson i learned was cathedral celings are "Baaaadddddd.:p".

Well a tuned vent will only work over a short range of frequencies.

As for the horn, your guess is as good as mine. Typically a horn needs to be loaded at the mouth with the driver itself in order to function properly. I'd consult with a horn expert before even attempting to build one. A horn designed to augment bass frequencies in the 17-80 Hz region will be mighty large; that much I know.

I think you're gonna spend more money on this crazy project than just getting a 2nd subwoofer for the basement :D
    - Sony 50"A3000 SXRD; Onkyo TX-SR 805
    - Polk RTi150 mains; CSi30 center; FXi3 surrounds, R15 backs
    - Velodyne CHT-12 subwoofer
