Here is a question for all my fellow vinyl junkies out there....Have any of you had any experience with SOTA turntables? Just asking cause I have a chance to get ahold of a model called Comet with an s303 tonearm, dust cover ect..for about 750 clams ...looks nice..but reminds me somewhat of my Music Hall...I have heard of this line..never tried one out though. A better step up from my Music Hall? Just wondering if any of you out there have had any dealings with SOTA...

While I have never heard a Sota table my audio guy who owns a store always speaks very highly of them..
I've asked him many questions about TT's and he always recommends Sota tables..

Currently my main table is a MMF 5.1...handles my LP's very nicely...that Sota Comet looks very nice, just wondering if it is a step up.. I've done a bit of checking..the price seems like a bargain..just would like to hear if any can comment on its performance...

I'd consider the Comet a slight step up. Besides being slightly heavier, I think it holds a small advantage in both main bearing design, and tonearm. Frankly they are minor enough differences that the 'improvement' in performance might only be perceived as a different sound, not necessarily better. At that price I would say it's at least worth a try. Chances are you could easily turn around and get your money back out of it if you decided it wasn't for you.
