Hi all,
I'm looking into upgrading my system, but not sure which way to go.
I need to cut down on space, so I'm thinking of using in-wall speakers.
Right now I'm using 2x Monitor50, CS1, and 2x Monitor30 (surrounds).
I am thinking of moving the front 3 in-wall using the 265RT and a 255c-rt.
I can't find anywhere to test these out before buying, but the price is right where I'm looking to be.
I'm also using a Polk 505 sub.
Do you think these in-wall will sound better than the Monitor series?

Anyone!?

You'll hear a difference, simply because your going to a different speaker design.
I think you'll be happy with your choice if you like the Monitors. -
I like the Monitor line, but I also want something with a warmer tone.
I guess that is really my question. Are these speakers warmer sounding? -
I have a Sony STRDH520

You definitely need cleaner, bigger power. The Sony is definitely on the wimpy side especially driving 5 speakers."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

What would you guys recommend? Let's say around $500 - $600
My room is small. 19x10.
I'm not entirely satisfied with the Monitor line, but I could see how the receiver/power is holding them back.
I was playing some music yesterday and couldn't really hear the higher notes. They were washed out so I had to boost the treble.
Do you think the Yamaha 575 or 675 would be better on power? -
Or possibly a Denon E-400?
-
Look at accessories4less web site. Have 2 factory refurbs at $650 that would probably work for you. Marantz SR6007 and Yamaha RX A1020.

I'm doing work in the house this month. I think I'm going to get the in walls first. Then maybe in a few months get a refurb Yamaha or denon.

If you're a Costco member see if your local store still has any Pioneer 1222K's in stock (basically a rebadged Elite SC61). For $399 you won't do better. Plenty of power for your rig and pre-outs if you want to add an amp later.

I am a member. I'll check it out

I checked BJS.com. Nothing listed. All other websites have it for 599.

Not on Costco.com either...
-
There are a lot of options out there.
I don't mind buying a refurbished item, if the savings are worth it.
$399.99 new Pioneer sounds great.
The Yamaha 1020 is a little to much right now, since I am most likely going to replace my front 3 speakers with in-wall units.
I'm hoping the new in-wall speakers provide a good sound, but if they do not, I'll look into the pioneer.
Would the Yamaha 720 be okay w/ the Polk 255c-rt and 265-rt? -

Not online, in store only. -
So I ended up getting a Pioneer SC-1523-K. I tried it out last night.
Wow, it is great! I had the volume at 0.0db and no distortion. That was a little to loud for even movies, but I know my Sony could not reproduce that level. I was getting distortion at lower volumes previously.
Thanks for the advice.
