Need stands for LSiM703's; rule of thumb for speaker height?
I'm going to need a set of stands for some LSiM703 bookshelf speakers soon.
Just did a quick search and didn't really turn anything up.
Are there any general rules of thumb for selecting a bookshelf speaker stand design?
How about for the "proper" speaker height?

Doesn't do you a whole lot of good since they are out of stock, but these are the ones I use with my 703's. There are better out there, but I've been happy with these. There is a 26" model that is available on amazon.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
Skylans are on the list to research, as mentioned.

Funny, I was just on Audio Advisor early today and these caught my eye: Pangea DS300
http://www.audioadvisor.com/Pangea-Audio-DS300-Heavy-Duty-Speaker-Stand/productinfo/PGDS300/
Also, I like the look and price of these: http://www.theaudioinsider.com/product_info.php?p=d-stands&products_id=44&osCsid=30afe2936ea8298856094c19ef5db7c7
Never used any of the above but they seem like a good value. Of course there are higher priced, and steel options out there.

One of the nice things about Skylan stands is they will custom size the top and bottom plates as well as the height.Political Correctness'.........defined

Congrats on the 703s. Let us know your impressions of them. Target makes some nice stands at decent prices

thanks for all the input, guys.
looks like some nice options out there. I like the beefier designs too. Skylans look pretty sweet.
WLDock > thanks for the reading! need to go peruse.
I like those Sanus UF models, but it looks like three separate tubes, not one? can't tell. I like the look of the fat singular tubes the best.
I like the look of those Swan stands, but I wonder how well they work compared to mass loaded steel. Also, they don't say whether they can be mass loaded.
I think I'm looking for something around 24" - 26". the 22" ones might work, but the speakers would be a little low.I disabled signatures. -

With 703s? Those might be a little tall/unstable for 703s. With 30" stands, your tweeters would be above 40" and your speaker tops would be above 46". Also, with the size and weight of the 703s - and with believing that stands are a purchase you'd want to make once and be done with it - I think you'd want more than a 6" x 6-1/2" plate at the tops of the stands.
As Jesse said, throw in the extra $ and get the UFs - MUCH more stable - if you're going to stick with Sanus for 703s.
Yes, msg, the UFs have three tubes, giving much better stability than the single or double-tubed ones. -

I've been happy with mine and 30" is about the right height for my seating area both in my listening room and in my HT. Certainly the UF are better stands, but I've had no issues with stability. Of course kids, pets, location, etc. can play a role in how stable they need to be.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden
