I scored one of these yesterday! A great deal. I am very impressed with this monster. Playing some Deep Purple Machine Head vinyl thru some Infinity QB speakers. Cranked up and hell yeah!!
I got static in my head

wow....the big boy...160wpc. I had the SX1050 when I was stationed in Germany '76-'79 powering some Bose 901 Continentals in a tiny off-base basement apartment in a three-story building with 2 German families above. Good thing they liked music :^ ) That SX1250 is a monster and probably weighs close to 60 lbs.

Nice piece - toroidal power transformer.
    You should post a photo!

I have its slightly stunted brother (the 1050) - my one-and-only 'silver faced' Pioneer. FWIW, I am not a big fan of the Pioneer's sonics, but they are well made and look nice in an oh-so-seventies way, so... I gotta have one :-P

Very cool! Congratulations! I love mine. I think that the Infinitys with the EMIT tweeter will be a good match - that tweeter will give back some high-end sizzle that the Pioneers may not volunteer, and the wattage will definitely fill out the bottom end.

If you're thinking of holding on to it for the long haul, I would definitely recommend considering a full recap - the value of these receivers supports the investment which is not always the case with 70s Pioneer gear. You'll be impressed with what you get out of it and the peace of mind is important. If you're interested in can put you in touch with the gentleman who recapped my 1250 - did a great job, made some important changes (i.e. going with smaller but better-suited main caps) and really improved the sound.

Enjoy and get going with the pics!! :)
