Does anyone have any opinions about Jantzen caps? I rebuild my Model 10 crossovers with http://www.parts-express.com/jantzen-12uf-400v-crosscap-capacitor--027-934 and now wonder if it was a good match for the Peerless tweeters.

How long have the new caps been in use? Reason I ask is caps need time to burn in. When I recapped my 2B's, they were all over the place for the first 200 hours. I didn't give them any critique until a few months after the 200 hr mark.
Aside from that, not sure how the jantzens compare sonically to what was in there. -
yes they do need to burn in for sure some take longer than others. BUT some caps are not very good in the high pass section say like Solen harsh and unkind to the ears. I can't answer that for your Jantzen's

They probably have 200 hours on them. I am comparing them to my SDA 1cs that have sonicaps and the rdo-194 tweeters. A hard act to follow, but the model 10s seem to give me listener fatigue after awhile.Polk SDA 1C, Monitor 10A, Monitor 5jr+, RTI A3, CSI A6, TSi100, PSW505

My father has Jantzen caps on his 1.2TL's. There are certainly better caps out there but I do not get fatigued with the Jantzens. For the money, I think they are fine.

I used them in some Monitor 7A's and they were a huge improvement over stock. What resistor did you use?

Mills. It could also be room acoustics, they are in my office that is about 12 by 12.Polk SDA 1C, Monitor 10A, Monitor 5jr+, RTI A3, CSI A6, TSi100, PSW505

I have an office setup (approx. 10 x 12) with a set of 10a's with Peerless and a set of 5a's with Peerless. The 10's have Clarity caps and Mills resistors. Probably 400 hours on them. The sound is rich with nice high end. The 5's have Sonicaps on the high pass and Dayton on the low pass with Mills. Probably need another 50 to 100 hours on the 5's to make sure they are completely burned in. At this point the 5's are a lot brighter than the 10's and do not have the bass.Of course we are talking about 2 completely different speakers, but I wonder about components. Is it the caps?? Not sure. I am sure that any new caps versus ones that are 30 years old will be a big improvement.

I really like Jantzen caps and have modded speakers and electronics with everything from their CrossCaps to Silver/Gold. I think the Superior are where the brand really starts to shine, but their build quality is great.

In the name of science I replaced one of the 12uf capacitors in each crossover with a Sonicap. My first impression is the sound stage is much wider. It will be interesting to hear what happens after a little burn in time.Polk SDA 1C, Monitor 10A, Monitor 5jr+, RTI A3, CSI A6, TSi100, PSW505
