OK this is a new one for me.My mom is the biggest geek I know,at 76 she finds the darnest things.
She sent this to me this morning, bless her heart.

My dog Annie prefers Dean Martin, and yes she is uppity about her music. And gets pissed if I hog the sweet spot.

What do you folks think?
Does it work or just another gimmick?

Absolutely, it works. When I first got my little yorkie, Lola, she would howl like a half-skinned banshee at night when I put her in her crate. I put a little Yo Yo Ma on and "Wah-Lah!" - Snoozefest!

Now, Merlin (cat), he prefers AC/DC above all else. Not so much for stress/anxiety relief - he has neither - but just to get his blood flowin'!

My cat, RIP, loved listening to music with me. Didn't matter what type of music, how loud the volume was or how the fast, tight and deep bass caused everything in the room to vibrate. No stinkin' sub needed! One thing I always found a bit odd though, she only liked the SDA's, she never wanted to listen to my office rig. I think it was because the monitors in my office didn't have the tremendous deep bass of the SDA's.

I always played all types of music for my Chihuahua to go to sleep to when he was a puppy (he is now 7 years old) - everything from Santana, Led Zeppelin, Ramones, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, etc - and that got him hooked. He now always sits with me in the sweet spot on the couch when I listen to music. He loves it and I know the music definitely calms and relaxes him.

My oldest male lab loves to listen to music with me. He seems to really love rock and old school jazz the best, but that's probably because that's my favorite! Lol! My younger female lab doesn't seem to get into it as much. I love watching her head turn looking for where the funny sounds are coming from when playing something like DSOTM on my SDAs. My older one knows what it's all about though and just likes to be in the sweet spot beside me listening to tunes.

My neighbor's cat love to lie in front of his speakers all the time. It use to crack me up when I'd go over there and he was blasting Led Zeppelin and cat was sleeping the whole time.

My cats appear to like anything that doesn't have heavy bass. As soon as a song or movie starts booming, they'll take off for upstairs.

My cat loves to sit on my lap when I'm in the sweet spot with whatever music I choose - he likes it all. Now my cockatiel loves most music, but especially Miles Davis and most acoustic jazz. When the music starts he starts "playing percussion" on his various toys, squawking and generally having a good time.

The dogs seem to like everything, especially when we get out the puppy "crack", their favorite dental chews from Costco.

My dog likes the sweet spot too, apparently more than he likes me (understandable). I have an overstuffed leather chair and he sits on the arm, my issue is when I get up to change a disc, I turn around and he's got the whole chair occupied, and looks at me as if to say "what?" For music preferences, I'd say he likes the Floyd...he even looked at me once and said "Which one is Pink?" I need to get out more...

My cat must be deaf to music. He never even notices that the stereo is on.

Our cat sits and listens to music with me or 'us' if the RAS crowd is over. He even helps pick selections. ;)
