Onkyo HT-RC440 Receiver Speaker Configuration Settings and High Current Power Supply

Howdy friends.

I am running through the set up of my Onkyo HT-RC440 AV Receiver in a two channel only configuration with a pair of Monitor 70's. I am listening in direct mode. But, it says the speaker configuration settings still apply. So I have the sub woofer set to none, which defaults the speakers to large. The crossover frequency is defaulted to 100 Hz. I have toyed with it all the way from 40 Hz to 200 Hz and frankly I can't recognize a difference in the sound. So I am wondering if this setting makes any difference in the signal driven to the mains or if it only applies to the signal that would have been sent to a sub were I to have one?

Second question.

The receiver is alleged to be equipped with a high current power supply and a "massive" high power transformer. I can't find any numbers regarding just exactly how much current we are talking about, or what 'massive' really means? Anyone know a little more than I can find?

Thanks for any info or help I can get.

With the sub set to none, the crossover setting will do nothing.

From the factory specs, it doesn't have a massive tranny nor it is high current.

I thought as much, on all three accounts. Well, I am in a small room and it sounds pretty good for what little I paid, I can always upgrade later.

Some of the tell-tale signs are it's only rated for 6 ohm loads, not 4 ohm. It has a low damping factor for a SS piece of gear. It only weighs 19lbs.

Since you are pleased with it, don't sweat the specs.
