Monitor40 to RTI a3? CS1 still good?
Hi all, I am very happy with my current HT setup monitor 40s for fronts, cs1 center, monitor30s for rear, and SVS PB100 subwoofer. My living room is very small so this setup is great, or at least i never had a better setup. And even though I am happy, I kind of want to upgrade to RTi A3 (never heard them) since they are supposed to be better. Would my CS1 still work, will it still be timber matched, or I would need to buy a new center as well?

Speakers are timbre matched through a series. So when you go from the Monitors to the RTiA's, you're changing series and timbre.
Your CS1 will still work, but it won't be timbre matched. The CSi3 would match the RTiA3's. Personally, I've always gone for the largest center in a series, so in this case, it would be the CSi5Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2
Cables: AudioQuest McKenzie XLR's/CDP/Amp, Carbon 48/BRP, Forest 48/Display, 2 channel speaker cable: Furutech FS Alpha 36 12AWG PCOCC Single Crystal (Douglas Connection)
EXPERIENCE: next to nothing, but I sure enjoy audio and video MY OPINION OF THIS HOBBY: I may not be a smart man, but I know what quicksand is.

If the Csi5 is better than the Csi3 you would be happy with either of them. Ive owned the Csi3 for a short period & i really liked it alot. For its beefy size it sounded quite nice in my small livingroom. Pictures & specs online dont do that Csi3 justice. For what it is-anyone that has one should be enjoying it-on a budget its a bang for your buck..

He's looking at the RTIA series so the CSIA6 is the center comparable to the CSI5.

OK, so from what I am reading if i want to upgrade to RTI A3 as fronts, I also need to buy a new center and new surrounds I have only been with the monitor series for a year... I may give up on the idea if that is the case.

I don't think the timbre on the surrounds is as important as the front 3 being the same
