I d/l the generic instruction manual for SDA speakers. The manual covers 1c, SDA2b, CRS+. On page 2 there is a really bold printed paragraph that says "IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT CURRENT VERSIONS OF THE SDAs NEVER BE CONNECTED TO PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE SAME MODEL". It goes on and says if you do you risk damage to your amplifier and both speakers and covers the common ground issue. Wow ,not that I'm changing anything but why are these not interchangeable if the same model type. So lets say I'm robbed and they only had time to get 1 of my 2Bs I cannot just get any other 2b it has to be same year or else? This I never heard of before and I think this info should be out there somehow and not just in the manual you would get if bought new. Also if selling on e-bay and the guy says yes I have a left and right set but not tested don't have stuff blah blah how could you know your getting a correct matched set or not.

First Guess: Previous version of same model means you can't make a set of two speakers using one 1C and one 1B, 1A, or 1.
One 2B can't be mated with one 2A or 2.
Polk never did sell sequential-serial-number speakers, so if you have a left and a right 2B, or 1C, or whatever, you're all set, even if they weren't sold as a "pair" originally.
Minor caveat if one of your speakers is an early-production 1C or 2B that used the blade/blade SDA jack and one of them is the later pin/blade: You'd have to update the wiring and jack of one or both speakers so an SDA cable can be connected. -
^^^^ +1 makes sense..Leave a note for the robber stating they must take both OR none at all joke..

I would think the SDA earlier versions has different crossovers in them-in even that model possibly-interesting read LW..

The previous versions mentioned are blade/blade and you cannot connect a blade/blade SDA to a pin/blade SDA due to the way the crossovers are configured.Political Correctness'.........defined

So Jesse it doesn't matter year made or generation as long as i/c is the same w/ mine being blade/blade originally and of course the side that is needed? May they be spiked to crap if ever someone tries to take my 2Bs. I put a lot of work into those puppies. All hypothetical of course.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Well, I wouldn't use a 3.1TL on one side and a 2.3TL on the other, just isn't going to sound right and the difference in crossovers would likely cause a problem.Political Correctness'.........defined
