Surrounds for 5.1 system, A5, A6 or A7

I've used to have 4x A9.

I sold the rear pair and I decided to go with FXi a6.

But since the sound from the Fxi A6 is (diffused), it's not going to be as "clear" as front firing speakers.

Money wasn't the issue before the speakers, but I'm been thinking.

If i had to put the Fxi A6 on speaker stands, why not just get floor standing again?

When I had the A9 as rears, I really felt there isn't much "bass" from the surround (i powered my surrounds and center with Xpa -3 Gen 2, Emotiva). I felt that most movies simply don't have that much bass content.

So it seems like Rti A5 is the best way to go, as it appears to have the best mid range.

having that said, the sitting position from each of the surround speaker is just 2 feet away. Probably because of this, the 3 bass woofers of my previous A9 are firing at the couch. So i can't hear much of it. I felt that if I choose A7 as rears, I would also run into this problem.

I'm wondering, which would be the best surround duty of my choices? A5, A6 or A7?

Many thanks in advance.

Futureshop has a good deal of A5 right now. 250 each.

Isn't that the idea, diffused sound, especially since your rears are so close?

If your setting these speakers 2 feet from the couch, one of the mid-range speakers on the A5 will be firing directly into the couch. Just checked and the top of the lower midrange is 27 inches off the floor, with spikes.

I would look at the A3 for a front firing speaker, or at least check the couch arm height.

about the height of the A5.

If i do get the A5, i would added a small foot stool of some sort to increase the height to match the height of the A9. Hoping the match the tweeter level of the A9. Based on some of the reviews that I read, the surround tweeter should be 2-3 feet about the sitting level right?

    the a9 is 48 5/8" tall

    the a5 is 40/1/4" tall

Also, since the sitting location is very close to the surrounds (side), wouldn't that create a Null if I do decide to go with the Fxi A6?
