I'm running my RTi10's now with an Adcom 5400 120 watts per channel. Would I see a big improvement by getting a Adcom 5500 200 watts per channel. Any suggestions? Thanks for any info. I'm using an Harman Kardon 254 to run the center and surrounds , sub.

I run a 5500 on stock 1.2's (for now). The big girls eat my adcom up if go past the 3 o'clock. I've had no problems with 5500 and use it daily and even left her on for days. Probably not a got idea. Never used the 5400. Some ok prices on the 5500. Watchout for one on audiogon right now. Looks like the heat sink fins got cooked. if you can get the Adcom 5500 at a fair price...get it! Those Adcom amplifiers were build like tanks and sound really good. if you like
loud music and need the "extra"power, get the 5500 other way save some money and get the Adcom 5400.Make it simple...Make it better! -
Good luck with the amp. I have 5500 that I bought a few months ago. Have not compared it to any other Adcom amp though.

Hey Rodney, I too am using a AVR 254 as a pre/pro with my Adcom GFA-7500 amp. I noticed a significant difference in the low end on my Lsi's when I biamped. I use four of the Adcom's 5 channels to bi-amp my front two speakers. The 5th channel of the Adcom powers my center speaker. This way I have matching power and specs for the most important speakers, the front 3. The HK's own power powers the surrounds. The GFA-7500 pushes 150 wpc into 8 ohms, and 225 wpc into 4 ohms. These are really great amps.Living Room: HK AVR 354 as pre/pro, 2 x Polk Audio Micropro 4000, Adcom GFA-7500, 2 x Mirage OMD-15
