Had them tuned up this Summer. Local pick up. Am in Boston area. Lights on Amp on off and speakers do not work. Otherwise 100% and lots of power. Connected to a pair of Monitor 7s. Hurry won't last. Selling 7's also.

I just spent shy of $250 this Summer/Fall (2013) having both units gone over and replacing any component that looked like it could fail by the folks at Audio Lab in Cambridge, MA. You don't find these units very often.

I could be interested in pre-amp if you decide to ship...

Selling as a pair. No problem shipping. I have to build a special box which will add $15 to the postage. I have shipped this stuff before and into a double walled cardboard box, I make a box with rigid foam insulation of at least 1" thick on all 4 sides + bubblewrap. They ship fine.

Local pick up is far easier because you can listen to the units and play around with them, however at the price I have quoted and the recent work, I would guess mailing is OK as long as the buyer is OK with it.

I love the Yamaha M-4. Had it back in the early 80's. Remember that it had a switch on the back to run in as a Class A amp with reduced power if you wanted. I also had the lamps in the three bold front push type switches go out and was able to easily replace them with some bulbs that I picked up at RadioShack. RadioShack is not what it used to be back then but I am sure you can find the appropriate bulb at mouser if you wanted to make it light up again. Great price on two very nice pieces of equipment. GLWTS.

You don't see many of these M-4 amps anymore, plus this one has been checked out recently . The specs. show the amp to be a sweet, clean running little amp that can run 4 ohm loads. GLWTS, hopefully someone local to you will snag these.

Are the pictures of the actual units? Since you said the lights don't function, I assume they are not of the ones you have... Can you post some pics of them?

The M4 is an excellent amp and the C4 is a diamond in the rough imo. There's a fellow in Indiana that mods Yamaha gear and the pre's come back sounding as good as any pre that I've ever heard. Which means there's no sound at all except for exactly what goes into them. If I didn't own 2 modded C4's and 1 M4 these would've been mine when they first got posted. Even at that I'm still tempted.

This is an outright steal at this price. These go for $225 and up for each unit without being serviced. The C4 is highly sought after by vinyl fans because the phono stage is outstanding and allows for connecting two MM and 1 MC at the same time. It also has 2 switchable outputs and cartridge loading.

The C4 sold for $600 in 1979. I had mine recapped about three years ago by the resident Yamaha guru at Audio Karma and it will never leave my main system. I also had the lights replaced with LEDs. The M4 is also very capable of driving just about anything you connect it to. These should be long gone by now. I had mine shipped from Arizona to PA, and then from PA to Iowa and back without any issues.
    Main System:
    Proton AA-1150 ~ Yamaha C-4 ~ Furman Elite-15 DMi ~ Sennheiser HD600 ~ Monitor Audio Silver RS8 & FB210 ~ Martin Logan Dynamo ~ Teac R-919X ~ Marantz CD5003 ~ Squeezebox Classic ~ Music Hall dac25.2 ~ Dual 1229/Acutex M312 III STR ~ Music Hall mmf-5.1/Goldring 1012GX ~ Music Hall Cruise Control 2.0

    Home Theater:
    Yamaha RX-V800 ~ Furman Elite-15 DMi ~ Marantz DV6001 ~ EPI M90 ~ Polk Audio RT35i ~ CS400i ~ (2) Polk Audio PSW450

Congrats on the sale guys! Looked like a fantastic deal, couldn't believe someone didn't snatch it up sooner.

Box arrived in one piece. Hope to get some speakers hooked up this weekend. More snow and busy schedule. Nice packing job and thanks for shipping! I should have a nice budget 2 channel and tweak them over time. They need paint so I just have to choose black yellow or red.
