It's not common ground, however, you can strap the negative terminals on the 5802 to make it common ground. No need for an AI-1.

Does that affect sound quality? and speaking of strapping neg. posts, what about amps by mcintosh or parasound etc. I just went back to my old sony amp because the adcom 5500 was not common.

From what I recall, the folks in this forum said it didn't affect sound quality in a negative way. I don't know about McIntosh or Parasound.

I'm pretty sure the Parasound A21 is common ground. That's the amp that I've always wanted, however, I'm still enamored by the sweet sounds of my tube amp.

On your tube amp can you push your tl's loud and still have good clarity of sound. Tube amps/pre are great looking. It is easy to want one just by the looks.

    Yes.
Cream, live at Royal Albert Hall DVD, is a great recording and has good clarity at high volumes. I don't feel that I need more power.

However, this looks pretty nice....integrated tube preamp/ss amp

Very nice and great DVD. Sound quality is more important now. Sure wish I kept my vinyls. Had a great collection but as we all learn when we are young. Thank you so much, it is nice to learn

I just sold my Parasound A21 and still have my 5802 for sale. I tried both on my SRT's (also for sale) and i could never get the clip lights to blink on the parasound. sounded good but the adcom sounded a little sweeter. I've haven't hooked up the MC602 to the SRT's yet. I think i'd rather move the speakers into the other room than move that 155lb amp!
