Decent power amp, notoriously not-so-great sounding preamp; the power amp is not class A, tho'.
The classic Crown components are built like power tools, though, and can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
EDIT: You should buy his Crown R2R if it is good condition :-)
For the record, I have a D-150 and an IC-150 (both the unsuffixed versions); I wouldn't admit that to just anyone - but I found 'em at the dump, so I don't feel too ashamed...

Have had the preamp and was not at all impressed. Very bright as I remember. Thought great for pro use not so much for home.paid 150. For the pre in very good condition, sold for the same.Main Rig:

The IC-150 and the Dynaco PAT-4 are probably the awfullest :-) sounding preamps that consumers paid actual money for... the DC-300A is a very respectable early high-power amplifier; right at the interface between home and commercial sound reinforcement/pro hardware. The Crown products were phenomenally well built and rugged - Crown has its roots in Christian missionary/field work; their products were "built missionary tough".
Their reel to reel decks were very, very good... I'd love to have one... -
Can't speak from experience on those particular models, however I couldn't be much happier with the IC-150A I have. It's been one of the most transparent pre-amps I've heard at any price. Would heavily recommend snagging one if you have the opportunity.HT

The preamp sounded like crap, and so did both the D300 and the D150. You could throw them down the stairs and they would work.
"We have to make these tough because they're going to throw them down a flight of stairs when they hear them."
Not my idea of a sales approach.
