    Looks nice, Randy.

But I'm sure that the Vinyl Jockeys would WELD all the joints below it, then slap a couple hundred lbs granite slabs--one on the top and another on the bottom. And, of course, there would be some extra decoupling of the table from the 200 pound stone slab just in case there were "micro-vibrations" transferred to it.

Of course I am kidding but the kinds of things the Fundamentalist LP nation does are pretty extreme and severe, there is NO middle ground in that WORLD! And NOTHING is seen as too 'extreme'. Nothing! There's a TT guy over at AK who thinks I'm a real **** bag because I ribbed him about inspecting his stylus under a microscope every week if not every other day. I'm sorry but that's too anal for me. Just keep a few extra around and change them as needed!

But I guess the real question is can "you" hear a difference? If so, then vibration is a problem, if not, you're good regardless of what anyone else says.

I'd be interested in what people here say. I bought a stand that has glass shelves and ended up putting my Hafler 500, that feels like it weighs 50+ pounds, on the floor next to it.

Thanks Cnh i had a early run this morning & too tired to hook it up today. I have the 6300 on the shorter glass top & hasnt been a issue. This one is kinda high. Maybe bracing isnt a bad idea

The Adcom is fairly light. Good call though. I could put the amp on bottom. But the pre will need to be close to turntable (short cords)

I myself have never used a glass shelved rack. Can the glass shelf be easily removed ??
If so replace it with a DIY sand box.
But I'm told the best is a wall mounted shelf.

Never thought about that Pman. Great idea. Ill look online. May have to wait to mount it for a bigger room. Definetly a great option. Thanks

I have a piece of one inch acrylic on each shelf, and each one is sitting on four points to minimize vibration through the whole rack, and it seems to work very well. Keep in mind I built my whole rack to this speck..

CNH, That is too anal for me as well, I don't see any reason to take it that far, and I think I am anal in everything I do, I am a person who loves to tweak things especially low dollar tweaks, I love em, keeps me busy and gives me something to do..

I clean my stylus between vinyl play, and that's as far as I go. I never seem to keep one long enough to worry about that anyways..

I built a wall mount shelf, but have never used it, it's been collecting dust for almost 2 years now..LOL!! It looks real close to the one above..

I clean often also but between each LP not each side.
I like to fool around with things like isolation and such.
It keeps my mind and fingers busy and it's fun to boot !!

You are right of course but were's the fun if you're not tinkering at least a little. Small%2BSmiley.jpg

That's a really nice rack. I like the spacing between the shelving but I always wondered how I would hide the wires.I have both my 2chl and H/T on same the rack/stand w/ a back to camo the wires with the glass rack I'm afraid it would look like a night mare. You still come up w/ some great stuff seeming weekly.

I just purchased a VPI classic 1 and I mounted it on top of a doubled 1/4" glass stand I had it directly on the wood entertainment center but tried using the glass stand and the stand is way better. When I get home I will take some pics of what I am talking about. I don't know a lot about turntables but I do know many manufacturers make platters out of glass albeit (special glass). I do know the density of this glass is suppose to be 7000 kg/m3 it doesn't appear to ring or resonate especially how I have it sandwiched

Update i got it hooked up yesterday & spun a few albums. Didnt have any issues. I have a swivvel chair in the room & i pretty much lounge my a$$ in it & enjoy music. The Adcom does a fine job on the 2b's. This is a small room :( but it beats putting all the gear in the closet. This is my hide out when the Mrs is doing her college studying/test. When i get a bigger room i may do a turntable shelf which i think would work better. For now this will do :) Thanks for feedback.

Nice gear, but boy...that second pic makes me nervous. Maybe it's just the pic, but it looks like that shelf could snap at any minute.
