i was a Happy Camper when i got home to see my Ebay box on the porch. It was a Polk Audio box with the markings of a Polk Audio Cs400i. I ordered a Cs400. HUH i said-maybe they use the same box ? I opened it up & sure enough its a 400i & i smiled ear to ear. When i saw this speaker listed i waited till the day before auction ended. I messaged the owner & asked the condition & his response was perfect. I read up the difference between the two. Both great cc speakers so needless to say i was in awe to get the 400i. Today i watched a movie & i just was in bliss with this speaker compared to the monitor speaker i was using.i was never a fan of center speakers especially where ive only had 2-3 HT systems i called HT. Let me tell you a center speaker is a must in HT & i think the cs400i is one heck of a speaker. It is huge beautiful & boy it sounds awesome. I had a great experience & feel i should send the seller more money.

What center are you replacing? It was a Polk, right? A CSi-3 maybe?

That 400i would be more like a CSi-5, I suspect.

    Enjoy!

He replaced a couple of Monitor speakers (5jrs, I think) standing in the middle of his setup - kind of a hokey way to go. ;-) They weren't passing the WAF test so he moved on to the CS400i. They'll both be much happier this way, the CS400/400i are awesome centers, especially with the vintage Monitors or SDAs as fronts.

I had two of the 400i's years ago, still have the RT55i's that were their litter mates. I always enjoyed the "Blue" mid-drivers on the "i" series. Enjoy you new toy!

you & Cnh are both correct. I had a Csi3 (which i really liked)with the R30's (which i didnt care for) so i sold all of them. Used a couple of Monitors for center/then just one & it did very well. I just couldnt see laying it on its side. Would have loved to got a CRS but didnt forsee that happening. Used some Monitors (which i must say are great) then i bought the Cs400i for 100 bucks to my doorstep.. So far i REALLY love the Cs400i. I just wish i had more time to enjoy it. Gotta work darn it

In B&W world, i means improved.
Like DM100i is improved version of DM100.
Not sure what Polk's meaning of i is, hopefully same.

I think the "i" was for the improved drivers, the blue ones. Improved over the previous black mid-drivers (RT400, RT800, etc).

    RTi, Reference Theater Improved

Well ive watched 6-7 series with the misses & we really love the NTM center speaker. It really does a fantastic job. Very detailed & the tweet stands out quite well 8-10 ft away. I have it positioned at us ear level. Very beefy bugger. It seems to do pretty good with the Yamaha too.

Cut ol' Randy some slack; he'd just come back inside from photographing Bigfoot. It's danged cold in the Northeast; ol' Sasquatch had been trompin' around the birdfeeders, snackin' on the sunflower seeds...
