On Memorial Day weekend May 1970 New Paltz had a 2 day spring concert w/a Saturday and Sunday show. The 1st show was Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee (old blues dudes), The Youngbloods and then Hot Tuna. The Sunday show was the Airplane then Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs and Englishmen w/ about 30 people on stage and Leon Russell was both the band leader and piano and 2nd lead guitatist. The Youngbloods made an announcement that they were taking crowd shots for their next album cover or rear cover. So here it is if you look from the center of the media box a little more than 1/2 way up and see a tall blonde guy (my friend Jeff) I'm 2 people to the right w/ an opened button down shirt, left nipple exposed and an acid grin about a mile wide. Talk about 15 minutes of fame ,that Andy Warhol was a genious, how many of you can say your cleary visible on a rock album cover.BTW the music on the lp is not from the show. Some say I'm on the Todd Rundgren Live @ Central Park lp but I have never found it.I remembered this when I went back into playing vinyl and got it off E-Bay for like $9 I believe in very good shape.
Don't ask my to circle, point, make an arrow or any other advanced sh$t because I have no idea how to do any of that stuff.

Wow, can I have your autograph?? J/K

That's pretty awesome, as many concerts that I went to, it would've been pretty cool to have my mug on an album cover.

Just a suggestion, how about making a little paper arrow, then lay the cover flat and position your arrow how you want it? Then we can see just how wasted you looked :)

Oh btw, since you might be on a Todd Rundgren album, you could change the title of your thread to "Hello it's me"

That's a good one but you don't know the half of it. The blonde guy who I was using for reference was my 1st fl building's neighbor and best friend. His family had connections and one of these was a plutonic uncle named Dee Anthony. If the name doesn't mean anything well he was once the most powerful bookers and managers on the east coast. He personally managed Ten Years After, Joe Cocker ,Spooky Tooth, and is pet Peter Framton. As you can well image we had ALL ACCESS to any show when his talent he handled was booked. I was backstage many times at the Fillmore East and onstage for the MD&E at New Paltz. You did not trifle w/ this guy or get in his way,at an age of 16/17 I was so in awe of seeing photogs w/ Nikons and Hassleblads, unbelievably beautiful women, dealing w/ Bill Graham and all other assorted show buiness stuff. His brother managed Al Dimeola and was an officer of some kind at the Capital Theater @ Port Chester. They also had the booking company of Premier Talent and an offshoot of that Bandana productions. If only I had any direction in my life at that time I would have certainly loved to get into the music biz like doing advance work or something like that. You have no idea how many shows I've seen and even got close enough to Bill Graham that when I went to the west coast I introduced myself to him and he remebered me out of the thousands of people he met, Dead shows it didn't matter Bill can I get in sure Lew... Very true story.

That is awesome. I couldn't imagine being those circles.

Peter Frampton...........I was 15 in '75, we traveled to Austin from S.A. to do an outdoor concert; Frampton, America, Gary Wright and a few others that escape the vast canyon I carved in my brain that weekend :)

YES ,that's me. Very high. As you can see these were outside shows on the tripping fields on the perimeter of SUNY New Paltz. In the winter they also had great shows in the gym.TYA and Mountain,Chuck Berry,Mahavishnu John Mclaughlin, the Flock opening for the WHO and the most depressing concert ever, even worse than a slow Grateful Dead show was Laura Nyro.

Damn, really nice collection,I have like 60 LPs now.The music on the album I thought sucked and it was not from the that show as you read the credits. It's funny when people ask me who you saw, I always reply it would be easier to name the people and groups I didn't see, that's a very short list. I'm talking classic rock no metal, rap, pop, hip hop or schlock like George Grand likes to say.
P man I can't believe you have a Mac and Vandersteen 3s nice taste.

Well your location states Central NJ. Finding places to buy used vinyl shouldn't be a problem. How far are you from Princeton (PREX) ??
I make the 1 hr. 40 min. drive from PA. every now and then.

I'm what you would call @ the cross roads of N.J. In Old Bridge/Parlin and just about every major road is 5 minutes away from my apt. Princeton is a good 45 to hr hour away. I so far have gotten all my LPs from garage sales, Good Will, just that YoungBlood's one on E-Bay and our friend George Grand. There are other shops in Sommerville and Edison but I rarely seem to use gas on LPs that cost a buck or 2.

Thanks, when you really think of it where were you on an exact date in history or in the Grateful Dead world (TDIH) I can say I was here on this day and the proof is undeniable some 43 odd years ago. It's different than having college pix,old neighborhood pix, and old home movies, this is a rock album cover. Now making it on the cover of SGT.PEPPERS would be icon status.Well I didn't quite make it there.
