After searching far and wide for a good power amp at the right (low) price I finally picked up a very clean Carver pm600 local yesterday off of cl...
$100 plus a tenner at rat Shack (you have questions... We have batteries) for a pair of RCA - 1/4" adapters
I deoxited the pots in it today and hooked it up to my rebuilt first Gen SDA2s
MAN!!! what a great combination! Superb tone... Deep wide sound stage... Just fantastic!
If I put my head back and close my eyes I swear I can pick out where Jerry and Bobby are standing in relation to Phil and the rest of the boys
I'm currently using my old kenwood 9g as a preamp (it has pre-outs on it) so I do believe I'm looking for a c11 and a black tuner to match or a nice black ct7

nicely done!
some nice specs on that piece.
that Kenwood is nice, too.
post up some pics, man, so we can all enjoy!
I need to learn how to deoxit stuff. this is what you do to help with scratchy controls, right?
I disabled signatures. -
fader lube by Caig works also
-
Hopefully I'll do this right and you guys see a picture
Yes.... For scratchy pots my "go to" is deoxit d100 in the spray can.....
Hose the pot out inside through any opening I can find....
Work it back and forth 20 or 30 times to loosen the crud...
Another shot to "rinse"..
Let it dry for 5 or 10 minutes..
Then follow up with a couple drops of the F100L 100% fader lube and work the control a couple times to spread it out
I usually wait 5 or 10 minutes after I'm done to apply power -

that's pretty cool that your Kenwood has preouts. I've got a neat Realistic STA-84 that belonged to my uncle. It puts out some nice sound, but no preouts so I can't see what it sounds like with some power.
thanks for the info on the cleaning. I'm gonna see if I can find some of this stuff and do a little work on the old B&K MC101 I just found. it's a little crunchy.I disabled signatures. -
