Iam looking for a very inexpensive reciever for my bedroom as the Sony STR-D-590 that I found one of the channels has gone away no matter what I do and it's a small version of a surround avr which I also have no need for but for free hell I'll try anything. I was cruising E-Bay and came across this receiver that looks ok w/ 1 glaring problem. There seems to be" special plugs to plug speakers into the amp" now the guy fully admits he just jams the wires into the unit and gets static and think it's from the way he is using the speaker ports. No sh$t, but what sort of plug was used for this and if available would something like this w/ ALL functions working make a bedroom only receiver.Even though there is a time limit and there is minor action on it I will not jump on anything that has an issue to begin with.

I'd pass for sure, those are proprietary plugs that you will probably never find. For something cheap like this check out Goodwill or a pawnshop.

I only have about 10-15 receivers that would fit your bill.

I also have some of those proprietary, two-blade, Pioneer speaker connectors somewhere around here.

Both of you are exactly right .I did a search for the plugs and are just as or even more $ than the receiver itself.Ocassional rca plugs but this w/ 2 inverted blades then screw down heads is insane. Thanks for the quick reply. Oh I went to the other GW in East Brunswick and all they have are VHS, muli dis cdp cables bowes and a bunch of schlock. To bad, I used to have great pickings between the 2 stores that are near me.The receiver barely rated at 15 watts a side for 8 ohms.Even my j2060s could use a little more.

George we should talk. I only thought you shilled LPs.When I'm ready for sure I'll p/m you and then you can mail me a list of smallish type receivers. A loty of talk about the Marantz 22xx series but they are going for mad cash w/ cabinets /w/o cabinets and led upgrades and conditions.

Speaker pins work quite well in those receivers

If I were you and I was that close to Mr. Grand, I'd take up that offer and get down there ASAP. Have you seen some of the items that George has listed on this site and their "prices"? I am 100 percent positive he HAS something you could use at a fantastic price that would also sound really really good!

I'm hoping to get down there myself at some point because I believe he still has something I would like to bring back up here and spend some time with!

Definitely go see George. Wish I would have taken the chance to spend more time with him when I blew through NJ last summer.
