Leaving feedback on Ebay

I bought some parts for my speakers on Ebay and got em on Thursday. I've had a chance to hook everything up and they seem to be working as they should. However, the packing job was downright awful. Two tweeters and two crossovers thrown in a box with just a couple pieces of air pillows. I'm surprised everything wasn't completely destroyed. But they do work with no obvious physical damage. So should I call it a day and leave positive feedback or what?

I shop a lot on eBay, but rarely sell anything. I personally never leave negative or neutral feedback unless it's deserved. But I also like to get my point across. In your situation I would either not leave feedback, or leave positive feedback but write in the comments "Poorly boxed but luckily arrived in working condition." Maybe I'm one of the few people that actually read the comments on someone's feedback page before making a costly purchase. If anything, the seller will at least know you weren't a fan of his boxing job. I might wait a month before leaving feedback just to make sure everything you bought keeps working.

I always feel bad after leaving negative feedback. I purchased something on Dec 7 as a Christmas present for someone and I asked the seller if I'd get it on time. It arrived the first week of January. I felt that was deserving of a big negative after asking before making the purchase if I'd get it before the 25th.

I agree with Hermitism. I used to sell and buy a lot on eBay (coins mostly) and I made sure that what I shipped was as good or better than I would want from a seller. It was just luck that your parts came through apparently unscathed.

I wouldn't leave a neg because they were as described and in good working order when he shipped them, but others should be warned about the packing job. Also, when I received something like that, i would message the seller and tell him that despite the positive feedback (with comment about the bad packing), I wasn't happy with his shipping.

However, be aware that if he sells a lot, the comment will get buried pretty quickly in his feedback.

Thanks guys, that helps. I'll leave a positive and make a mention about the less than adequate packing job. But I'll wait a little while to make sure the components keep working. I've been watching movies on the new tweeters and xovers all day and I'm pretty happy. I'm sure all is well.

I would also go positive feedback, but follow up on the other suggestions above like an e-mail to the seller regarding the packing job. It is possible that he shipped other packages in the past like this, and they all arrived safe. He may be just on the line for lowest cost/safe arrival. Does he have many sales ?

He's got a 100% positive rating with over 500 items bought/sold. I sent him a message about the packing job but mentioned that the items arrived in good condition. I lucked out this time but I'm starting to get weary about buying from Ebay. I've had more than a few items arrive with less than sufficient packaging. For the items that I've sold on Ebay and here as well, I've made sure to pack them as securely as possible and I've even taken pictures of the packing process, just in case there ever was a problem. Maybe that's what I should request of sellers in the future...
